5pm - more outages - but the worst should be past

Seattle City Light outage map at 5pm
10pm - no change to the map

There have been a couple of fierce gusts of wind, but predictions are that the worst should be past by now, at 5pm.  The outage map is worse. That might mean that more trees fell, or perhaps it simply means that previous outages have now been reported and the map updated.

Looks like all of west Shoreline is on battery power. Ballinger and Lake Forest Park aren't doing too well, either. Go visit friends in Echo Lake or Ridgecrest.

In Edmonds, other than trees down, a car went over an embankment and it took police 45 minutes to extract the driver.

In Seattle, a big tree fell on a car in Seward Park, killing the male driver. A toddler in the back seat had minor injuries but was pulled to safety.

Kruckeberg Gardens had to cancel their Leprechaun Hunt and close the Gardens for the day.

Bridges across Lake Washington were closed because of water over the roadway.

A tree fell on a house in the Hillwood neighborhood of Shoreline, with branches puncturing the roof and coming into the living room like spears.

Central Market is open. They have no power so you will not have access to the refrigerated cases.

A skinny, but very tall tree fell over three lanes of I-405 just north of SR 527, taking 405 to one lane and backing up traffic for miles.

I remain amazed at how many people don't think twice about spending $2,000 for a home entertainment system but won't spend the same for a decent generator and transfer switch.

My power (just south of Shoreline courthouse) was off from 2pm for approximately 12 hours. So glad it is back on. Don't have a generator or a $2000. entertainment system either.
