Just after 12:30pm on Thursday, January 31, Shoreline Community College staff and students were alarmed to receive a campus bulletin advising them that the campus was locked down because of police action in the area.

An armed robber was being pursued by police after he kicked in the door of a boarding house type residence at 160xx Greenwood Ave N. He kicked in several of the interior doors as well and was armed with a handgun.

Highland Terrace elementary school was also locked down, but it was an early dismissal day and students had already left the building.

The lockdown lasted about 30 minutes.
