Pink Polka Dot members at the 2012 Golf Tournament

The Pink Polka Dot’s annual Sydney Coxon Memorial Golf Tournament, held on September 8th, brought friends, family, community and business supporters together in the fight against pediatric brain tumors.

The event raised nearly $75,000 to fund research under the direction of Dr. Jim Olson at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the Seattle Children’s Research Center.

Following a beautiful afternoon of golf in sunshine, about 150 guests enjoyed the dinner, silent auction, and program at Legion Memorial Golf Course in Everett. Seattle Children’s Oncologist Dr. Sarah Leary spoke about recent breakthroughs in research and Andy Keener, a former patient who now works with Dr. Olson, expressed how important direct research funding which the Guilds provide is moving new treatments forward.

The event is sponsored each year by Integrated Technologies, and generous matching funds are provided by the Coxon Family Foundation, in loving memory of Sydney, who passed away in 2006 from a pediatric brain tumor.

The successful fundraiser enabled the Pink Polka Dot Junior Guild to reach the $500,000 contributed to date mark.
