Lake Forest Park mayoral candidate Mary Jane Goss continues to lead opponent Dwight Thompson in fundraising for the August 16 primary and November 8 general election.

Public Disclosure Commission reports through Friday showed that former LFP councilwoman Goss had raised $15,743 to $11,153 for current Councilman and Deputy Mayor Thompson. Goss reported spending $6,891 to 6,890 for Thompson. Candidate Stan Lippmann reported no money raised or spent.

The three will meet in the August primary, with the top two vote getters advancing to the November general election.

The biggest contributions to the Goss campaign were from Richard and Margaret Marshall of Lake Forest Park. Her largest expenditure was a consulting fee.

Thompson’s largest contribution cane from Frank Lumber Co. His largest expenditures were also for consulting.

You forgot to mention Washington Association of Realtors' $1600 donation to the Goss campaign. It seems odd to have a statewide organization pour this kind of money into a small-town race. In an earlier statement, Goss said that "We need decision making... which reflect residents desires rather than outside influence." I guess this donation isn't considered outside influence?

What about the fact that $4700 of Thompson's total is a "loan" from Thompson himself? And that the campaign of the man who is now talking about living within your means is already over $2500 in debt (as of 7/25).

Good point - if Thompson had more wealthy donors and outside interests giving him money, maybe he wouldn't have to take out loans and go into debt to compete in a small-town mayoral race.
