Shorewood Gymnastics places 9th out of 16 Teams on Jan 8

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

On Saturday, January 8, the Shorewood Gymnasts placed 9th at the Washington Open Winter Invitational (WOWI).

The WOWI is hosted by the Washington State Gymnastic Coaches Association and draws teams from around the State.

"It is a great way to support our Coaches Association and see many teams we would not normally have the opportunity to see" said coach Susan Riley "I am very proud of how hard the girls have been working and our improvements are showing.

The meet is divided into two competitive Groups: The Twisters, who typically are Level 8-10, year round club gymnasts.

It felt really good to be back...although I have a long way to go, I am happy with the overall outcome of the meet." Riley said. "I still have a lot of difficulty to add to my routines which will help Shorewood get more points"

Junior Yvonne Chan also had a great showing at the meet, placing 5th on Bars, 2nd on Beam and 10th on Floor. Junior Kat Alexander placed 10th on Beam.

Sophomore Megan Ransom placed 7th on Vault. Freshman Stephanie Spee placed 4th on Vault, 4th on Beam and 6th in the All Around. Freshmen
