Jazz up your winter! Please join us on January 22, 2011 at 7 p.m. for Jazz It Up!, the Arts Council’s annual Arts Scholarship Program fundraiser, at Shorecrest Performing Arts Center. Our specials guests this year are trumpeter Vern Sielert and pianist Bill Anschell. Joining them will be the Shoreline School District’s Friends and Faculty All Star Band as well as Shoreline middle and high school jazz bands. Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for students/seniors.

This concert is made possible through the support of the Shoreline Public Schools Foundation, Kennelly Keys Music.

Shorecrest Performing Arts Center is located at 15343 25th Ave NE, Shoreline, WA 98155. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling 206-417-4645.

Vern Sielert is Associate Professor of Trumpet and Jazz Studies at the University of Idaho. He has performed with artists such as Rosemary Clooney, Reddie Hubbard, Ronnie Milsap, the O’Jays and Bobby Shew, and with bands like The Lionel Hampton Big Band and The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra.

Seattle native Bill Anschell returned to the Emerald City in 2002 after spending 25 years studying, composing, and performing around the world. In 2005 Anschell received a Golden Ear Award as the “Northwest Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year,” and in 2006 his trio was named the “Best Northwest Acoustic Jazz Ensemble.”

The Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to nurture all of the arts in the community through programs and events, arts education, advocacy, and support for artists and arts organizations.
