Demolition in 2010

The Aldercrest Annex property in the Ballinger Neighborhood was the subject of much discussion when the school district proposed selling the site and neighbors wanted to preserve the land as a community park.

After many community meetings and discussions, it was agreed that any sale would include the provision that the open land be preserved for community use.

The unused buildings on site have been used by transients, wielders of spray paint cans, and arsonists. After an arson fire, a classroom building was demolished.

The Aldercrest Annex property remains in the ownership of the school district. The Shoreline School Board recently approved the demolition of the gymnasium and electrical building on site.

Neighbors should expect work to begin in a few weeks. Public access will be maintained to the field areas during the demolition.
