Winners of the Sandcastle Contest

A previous article about the Celebrate Shoreline sandcastle contest did not identify the winners.

The smoke took a day off and the sun came out in honor of the annual RBCA Sandcastle Competition and Kite Fly at Saltwater Beach Park on Sunday, August 19, 2018.

The festivities included a beach barbecue by Frank’s Franks and steel drum music by @. Sixteen teams of families and kids created works of art with sand, shells, rocks, driftwood, kelp and everything else the beach had to offer. After two and a half hours of hard work and creativity by participants, the winners in each of the categories were announced.

In the Kids category:

1st Place - Team Bandit Golfer - Kai

 2nd Place - Team Octosquad

3rd Place - Team Starfish

In the Family/Adult category:

1st Place - Team Turtle

2nd Place - Team Sandstars

 3rd Place - Team Sand Tigers 

Honorable Mentions: Team Sharkasaurus, Team Sand Hampsters, Team Peter-sands, Team Sand, Team Sandtastic Seastars, Team Sand Hopper, Team Keegan’s Crew, The Friend Team, Team Kline and Team Master of the Sand.

Thank you to all our participants -- it was a joy to watch your wonderful ideas come to life!  Thank you also to our judges, Lori Hoffman, Sue Williams and Joe Abken, and our photographer, Bob Pfeiffer.

And finally, thank you to the local businesses who donated prizes or helping hands to make the day perfect -- Gorgeous Garden LLC, Beach House Gifts, Santa Fe Mexican Grill, Streetzeria, Orange Theory Fitness, Hills Bistro and Wake N Bacon BBQ.

This was a fantastic event to bring Celebrate Shoreline to a close!
