Reader Tina sent in this suggestion of a way to help the Hopelink food bank.

Safeway currently has 10 pound bags of potatoes for $2.99. Buy 1 get one free with club card. That's .15 per pound!
I bought 10 bags today to donate to our local food bank. No posted limit on amount. PLEASE DONATE.

Hopelink is located in Aurora Square: Shoreline Food Bank and Emergency Services, 15809 Westminster Way N Shoreline 98133, lower level near Marshalls. 206-440-7300.

Safeway shoppers can also purchase a pre-filled bag of groceries for $10 and donate it to a food bank right from the store. The pre-filled bags contain items such as soup, tuna and canned vegetables to help feed those in need this holiday season.

There are two local Safeway stores: one at 155th and Aurora and the other at 175th and 15th NE.

If you want to spend $10 please just give the cash to Hopelink - I suspect Safeway is making a profit on those bags..
