Shorewood opens District soccer tournament at home Saturday after 3-2 victory at Glacier Peak Wednesday

The Shorewood boys’ soccer team opens Northwest-District-3A-tournament play at home Saturday after a 3-2 victory at Glacier Peak Wednesday.
            
Shorewood takes a 16-0 record into the tournament-opening game with Everett (4-10-2) at Shoreline Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The winner advances to a District semifinal game Tuesday against the winner of a Saturday game between Lynnwood and Sedro-Woolley.
            
Shorewood’s victory over Glacier Peak marked the first time this year that the Thunderbirds have given up two goals in a game. Andreas Gobel scored with an assist from Owusu Fordjour, Fordjour scored with an assist from Matthew Pettersen, and Hayk Avanesyan scored with an assist from Eugene Holley, before Glacier Peak scored its two goals.
         
The Shorewood junior varsity lost to Glacier Peak, 3-2, Wednesday to finish with a 14-1-1 record.
