Shorewood girls play at Stanwood Thursday after opening season with 45-39 loss at Ferndale

The Shorewood girls’ basketball team plays at Stanwood of the Western Conference 4A North division Thursday after Shorewood of the Wesco 3A division opened its season Tuesday with a 45-39 loss at Ferndale of the Northwest Conference 3A division.

Shorewood and Stanwood play at 7:15 p.m. at Stanwood High School, with junior varsity teams from the two schools meeting at 5:40. Stanwood will be opening its regular season after playing in a jamboree at Glacier Peak Tuesday.

In the Thunderbirds’ loss to Ferndale, Shorewood led by one point after three quarters, but the Eagles outscored the T-birds 17-10 in the final eight minutes.

The Shorewood junior varsity lost to Ferndale, 61-31.
