City of Shoreline hosting two informational meetings on Proposition 1

Shoreline City Council has placed a bond measure, Shoreline Proposition 1, on the November 5 general election ballot.
Approval of Proposition 1 will allow the City to construct a new aquatics, recreation, and community center. It will also allow the City to make improvements to four community parks.
The City would issue up to $103,600,000 in general obligation bonds to be paid back through an increase in property taxes.
The city is hosting two informational meetings on Proposition 1.

Tax increases in Shoreline have been going up too much. The cost of fire services went up, the School District is building new schools, we are asked to finance Side walks, and Sound Transit is very expensive. But, at least, these are essential things. Now we are being asked to pay even more for non-essential park and recreation growth. Stop and think about it before you vote. Do we really need a fancy new aquatics center? Why not just a pool? Why can't City Hall live within their existing means? They never spend less and never choose between expensive things, they just ask for more tax money to have all the expensive things they can imagine. Consider a "No" vote on this one folks, it seems too much over the top.
Thanks to City staff for making themselves available to answer questions! As a resident of the area for about 7 years and a parent to small children, I'm delighted to see our city taking steps to make our city a wonderful, thriving area to raise a family. The recent investments in community infrastructure will pay dividends in building a lovely, equitable, and accessible community.
