Life Care Center of Mount Vernon, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility, is welcoming a new executive director, Shoreline resident Mike Shaw.

“Mike comes to Life Care with a proven track record of success, and in the short amount of time I have known him, I see that his enthusiasm and energy for his staff and residents is contagious,” said Mark Cenis, vice president of parent company Life Care Centers of America’s Cascades Region.
“I look forward to good things at Mount Vernon under his leadership.”

Shaw most recently served as executive director for CRISTA Rehab and Skilled Care in Shoreline, Washington.

Prior to that appointment, he was executive director for Kindred Hospital Seattle - First Hill’s subacute unit.

He has been a long-term care administrator for 25 years and has worked in communities in Arkansas and Texas in addition to Washington.

“I’ve always loved kids and older people,” said Shaw. “I wanted to make an impact. I get to work with some awesome team members and help our precious residents. I like encouraging them and helping them find hope again.”

Shaw has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, his home state. He currently resides in Shoreline. He has three grown children, and in his spare time, he enjoys doing mission work.

Life Care Center of Mount Vernon, located at 2120 E. Division St., is one of 16 skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers in Washington managed by Life Care Centers of America.

Founded in 1976, Life Care is a nationwide health care company. With headquarters in Cleveland, Tennessee, Life Care manages more than 200 nursing, post-acute and Alzheimer’s centers in 28 states.
