Awards, appreciation, elections and
summer activities preview at May RBCA meeting
Tuesday, May 8, 7:00 p.m.
Richmond Beach Congregational Church

The May public meeting of the Richmond Beach Community Association is always a joyous party, celebrating a year of accomplishments and revving up the neighborhood for a summer of fun to come. All are invited; it is especially important that RBCA members are there for the election of new board members. Note the earlier start time of 7:00pm. Social time with refreshments will be at the end of this meeting instead of the beginning.

Board election: There are five seats to fill on the nine-member RBCA Board of Directors. A quorum of 19 people who have been RBCA members for more than 30 days is required for the election.

Marge Unruh Community Service Award: RBCA will recognize people/businesses/organizations that have worked to make the neighborhood a better place through significant contributions of time, talent and good will, as did the late Marge Unruh. Starting this year, nominations can go to people who received the award ten or more years ago but who have continued to volunteer and make a difference in Richmond Beach.

Recognition: Other volunteers who dedicate themselves to making Richmond Beach great and who assist the board with specialized work will be thanked at the May meeting, and everybody in the room gets to show their appreciation by eating cake in their honor.

City, library, arts, garden and RBCA activities: Officials and spokespeople for the City of Shoreline, Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council, King County Library System, Kruckeberg Botanic Garden and RBCA will all make short but exciting presentations about the many, many summer activities taking place in or near Richmond Beach in May, June, July and August. Come find out what’s playing in both the parks . . . what the summer reading programs are for kids and adults . . . what games and activities there will be to join . . . and what volunteer opportunities await as well!
