Kenmore girl makes debut as fantasy novelist at Third Place Books May 12

Friday, April 8, 2016

After six years of letters to publishers, 23 year-old Audrey Greathouse is celebrating the release of her first novel with an event at Third Place Books.

In Audrey Greathouse's first novel, The Neverland Wars, millennials meet Peter Pan in a modern coming of age fantasy story.

Third Place Books at 17171 Bothell Way NE, Lake Forest Park, will be hosting a signing with limited edition pre-release copies on May 12, 2016 at 7pm.

“I've spent years coming to Third Place to write. I couldn't have picked a better place to celebrate The Neverland Wars, and I'm so happy my favorite indie bookstore wants to support my book,” Greathouse says.
An avid supporter of independent bookselling and publishing, Greathouse is seeing fantastic interest and sales figures for a new author without a corporate publisher.

Pre-orders have already landed the book on Amazon.com bestseller lists, thanks to the enthusiastic local fanbase Greathouse has cultivated over the past six years. This traditionally published novel marks a huge leap forward for the girl who got her start dealing self-published novels out of her locker at Inglemoor High School. Following these impressive figures, Greathouse's publisher has announced its plans to move forward with the story as a trilogy.

The literary market is booming with books for teens about growing up, but Greathouse's vision is for young adults who aren't as excited about the transition.

The story follows Gwen Hoffman, whose young sister is abducted by Peter Pan. In her attempt to rescue her sister, Gwen becomes stranded in Neverland as a teenager. Even worse, the threat of war comes from adults who want to invade and harvest Neverland's magical resources for practical purposes — like solving the budget crisis — and Gwen will be forced to choose sides in this conflict.

The Neverland Wars is being released by Clean Teen Publishing, an anti-censorship publisher that believes content disclosures and simple rating systems are the solution to helping readers find books suited their values and interests. Greathouse can be found online. She is @missaudreyjoy on Twitter and her book tour stops are listed on her Facebook page.
