Public reception for LFP Police Chief candidates Wednesday

The Lake Forest Park community is invited to meet the final candidates for Chief of Police at a community reception at City Hall scheduled for 6 to 7pm on Wednesday, February 6, 2013.

Five finalists for the Chief of Police position are scheduled for a full day of interviews that Wednesday. Elected officials, local law enforcement leaders, City department heads, police department employees and community members are included in the final interview process.

The community reception, scheduled for 6pm Wednesday, will include a time for citizens to meet the Chief of Police candidates and talk to them in an informal setting. Citizens will be invited to give their input on the candidates on feedback forms available at the reception. Everyone is welcome.

The hiring process includes a thorough background check and additional state requirements. Mayor Goss expects to complete the process and make a final offer in early March 2013. The target hire date for the new Chief of Police is April 1, 2013.

Former police chief Dennis Peterson retired effective January 6, 2013 after serving as Police Chief of Lake Forest Park for over 12 years.
