Summer Solstice Soundscapes with Gary Stroutsos June 21

Sunday, June 2, 2019

Friday, June 21, 2019 from 6-8pm at Kruckeberg Botanic Garden Gary Stroutsos performs world flute music drawn from many traditional cultures.

Evoking a spirit of place and the voices of the land, his work includes internationally acclaimed recordings at sacred sites, using the unique acoustics and history of each great space as the starting point for a deep musical exploration.

This results in a shared moment in a timeless place, where the flute melodies – ancestral and modern – play off on one another and songs come alive, buoying and breathing through the generations. Learn more about him and his work

“I cannot imagine trying to come to terms with the history of this complicated country I have chosen to make my life’s work without Gary’s exquisite mastery and understanding of its many varied musical traditions. We don’t leave home without him.” – Ken Burns, Florentine Films

The Kruckeberg Botanic Garden Foundation is proud to partner with Gary Stroutsos. Join us for a casual reception of food, wine, and light refreshment with Gary in the upper garden and then walk down together to the lower garden for a performance of Native American songs and story telling. This is a ticketed event to support the foundation and the garden.

Due to the size of the event, parking will not be available at the garden. Courtesy parking will be provided by Richmond Beach Congregational Church, 1512 NW 195th St, Shoreline, WA 98177. A free shuttle will run between the church and the garden for the duration of the event.

Please note that this event is not wheelchair-accessible due to the steep grade of the path into the lower garden.

Where: 20312 15th Ave NW, Shoreline, WA 98177
