Shorecrest soccer team stays unbeaten with shootout win over Shorewood

The Shorecrest soccer team stayed unbeaten with a shootout victory over Shorewood Wednesday night at Shoreline Stadium.
 
The 2-1 victory left Shorecrest with a 6-0 Wesco 3A record (7-0 overall) and dropped Shorewood to 4-1, 5-2.
 
After Shorewood took the lead in the 23rd minute, Shorecrest senior forward Glenn Paden tied the game on a goal in the 48th minute with an assist from senior forward Jayme Parry.
 
The teams played two scoreless overtime periods before both teams made their first four kicks in the shootout, with the Scots making their fifth kick while the Thunderbirds missed.
 
The Scots take their undefeated record into a 7:30 p.m. Monday game at unbeaten Glacier Peak (5-0, 7-0).
 
The Thunderbirds play a 7 p.m. Monday home game with Oak Harbor (1-5, 1-6).
 
Shorecrest and Shorewood meet again April 29.
 
Through seven games, Paden leads the Scots with 13 goals and 8 assists. Callum Wijelath of Shorecrest and Hayk Avanesyan of Shorewood each have six goals and two assists. Shorecrest goal keeper Sam Schober has four shutouts. Shorewood goal keeper Simon Asppinal has three.
