Shoreline-Edmonds line - Good turnout at Sunday sign-waving greets candidates for state rep and state supreme court

Four candidates running for state office this November took time out of their busy schedules to meet with almost 70 sign-wavers and passers-by at the Shoreline-Edmonds line Sunday, August 30, 2026 answering a slew of questions under a surprisingly hot, sunny sky.

They included Danica Noble, running for state representative in the 32nd Legislative District Position 1, Imraan Siddiqi, also running for state representative in the 32nd Legislative District but for Position 2, Justice Theo Angelis, running for reelection to the Washington State Supreme Court Position 5. Also stopping by was Brandy Donaghey, running for reelection as state representative in the 44th Legislative District Position 1.

Topics ranged from affordability of housing (and healthcare, childcare ...), to tax fairness, protecting residents from federal overreach, how judicial ethics and potential conflicts-of-interest are handled for the highest court here in Washington state versus the other Washington, and more.

All answered questions for well more than the 15 minute-visit requested, staying to the end of the hour and impressing with the breadth and depth of their knowledge on the issues facing constituents and the state. They also came armed with suggested solutions - including how to tackle some of the thorny issues in tough state budget times.

Scheduled to drop by for a visit next Sunday, Sept. 6, are 21st District State Sen. Marko Liias and Position 1 State Rep. Strom Peterson, and Shoreline City Councillor Keith Scully, running for 32nd District Position 1.

These visits are a chance for candidates to meet potential constituents, learn about their concerns, answer questions and talk about their goals for the office. With the general election coming up Nov, 3, now is the time to find an event and meet the candidates who will affect your daily life and help you make an important and informed decision before you cast your ballot.

Local group Everyday Activists is inviting candidates in the 32nd and 21st Legislative Districts (which together cover Lynnwood, Edmonds, Mountlake Terrace and Woodway) and five positions on the Washington State Supreme Court to stop by upcoming “Social Justice Sundays” sign-wavings at the Shoreline-Edmonds border on Aurora Avenue North/Highway 99 and 205th/244th.

Additional candidate visits may be scheduled in upcoming weeks before the Nov. 3 election. Updates may be found on @everydayshoreline.bsky.social.

Sign-wavings are held almost every Sunday, 1-2pm. Bring a sign (or just yourself) and – for the next few weeks – thoughtful questions or comments. As always, items of non-perishable food, toiletries and school supplies will be accepted for donation to a local organization helping those in need.
