The cities of Lake Forest Park and Shoreline share more than a common border – we have a lot of common interests. Councilmembers on both city councils work together to further these interests.
Recently, I had a chance to talk with Laura Mork, a longtime Shoreline councilmember, on the subject of mutual interests between the cities.
“Lake Forest Park’s Climate Hub, and the quarterly conversations regarding local climate issues held there, serves to inform and educate people in and throughout our region,” she said.
“Shoreline residents greatly appreciate these events with engaging and knowledgeable speakers, and LFP’s leadership in making these informative events happen.”
In addition, we talked about many opportunities for collaboration:
- pedestrian and multimodal safety, especially a safer Burke-Gilman /Interurban Trail connector,
- maintaining and improving streamwater quality and ecosystem health through the Lake Ballinger Forum, and
- building climate resilience through shared events in the Go Electric! Education series.
