| Professor Thomas Quinn |
His presentation ”The Biology of Puget Sound Bull Trout” explores one of our region’s most fascinating and least understood native fish.
Thomas is a fisheries biologist and Professor Emeritus at the University of Washington whose work spans decades across the Pacific Northwest and beyond including Bristol Bay, Puget Sound and Washington rivers such as the Skagit River.
Bull trout are one of eight native salmon and trout species in the Puget Sound basin that routinely migrate between rivers and saltwater. Because they are seldom studied there is surprisingly little fisheries data available.
In his talk, Tom will share what scientists know about bull trout: what they are, how they’re related to other salmonids, how researchers study them, and what has been learned about their life history and movements.
While there will be some discussion of fishing for bull trout, the focus of this program is on understanding these remarkable fish, not on revealing secret spots.
This meeting is free and open to the public. Doors open at 5:30pm.
Lake Ballinger Center is at 2300 Lakeview Drive, Mountlake Terrace Washington.
