The final moments at Sears

David Carlos was on hand to document the final moments of the Sears store in Shoreline Place, as he has been for all the stages of the demolition.

Comments from readers make it clear what a large part the store played in local life, both as a place to buy - well, everything - and as a major local employer.

Happy to see that the upper buildings adjacent to Sears did have their own wall and are still standing.

It took me a long time to remember but I actually worked at Sears. I spent four days promoting a new Apple computer that I didn't actually know how to use because I still had the earlier version. Mac geeks had a wonderful time stopping by to demonstrate it to me, so all was not lost.

  1. Sad to see the store go. I remember going with my parents to the grand opening when I was a small child, and receiving a balloon.

  2. Bought a nice very nice Technics stereo system there in the '90's.
