NE 185th Street and 1st Avenue NE will both be fully closed at their intersection this weekend to complete wastewater pipe repair and replacement. The closure will be from 7:00am Saturday through 10:00pm Sunday.
Please use alternate routes and plan for extra time to travel through the area. The recommended detour will be Meridian to N 175th Street on the west side of the closure and 5th Avenue NE to NE 175th Street on the east side of the closure.
Why wasn’t this coordinated with the signal work on 175th at Meridian? Traffic on 175th was a huge mess Saturday morning. Seems to me you could have delayed blocking 185th at 1st and Meridian until the signal work was finished. Instead this pipe repair pushed those of us who normally travel on 185th to the already congested 175th from the signal work.
