Help Is Available For Those Experiencing the Loss of a Loved One

A Series of Informal “GriefShare” Seminars Is Now Available In Shoreline

Experiencing the loss of a loved one can be one of the most challenging times in life. Grief is deeply personal and often an isolating experience, but one doesn’t have to navigate this journey alone.

Whether you’ve lost a loved one recently, or long ago, or even have a friend or relative who has, there is an informal but valuable opportunity to receive comfort in a series of discussions and presentations offered by those who have gone before you.

People who experience a life crisis, like grief, need ongoing support and encouragement. They need practical help. GriefShare offers well-organized, high-value material, practical resources, and group sharing for important in-person encouragement and support. Group leaders have gone through the experience of losing a loved one and can offer first-person help through sharing.

The GriefShare series includes small group discussions, a series of video programs, and encouragement by those who have gone before them, experiencing all the various issues and seeking restoration and peace as they move forward with their own life and helping others.

Examples of the session agendas, videos, and discussions include “Is This Normal”, “Your Grief Journey”, “Loneliness & Sadness”, “Self -Care”, “Anger”, “Grief & Your Friendships”, “What Do I Live for Now?”, and more for a series of 13 weeks.

There is no cost to attend the series, but there is a guidebook that serves as a road map on your grief journey and covers each session. You can donate $10.00 to partially cover the cost of the $20.00 guidebook.

The first in the series began on the 13th, but anyone interested can still join in on the 20th – next Sunday. The series runs through December 12th. Each session begins at 12:30pm and lasts two hours. It is informal, no-dress-up – just come as you are and feel the welcome, compassion, and, most importantly, learn how to deal with your own grief situation from people who have gone before you.

Many people feel nervous before attending their first GriefShare meeting.

You might be worrying about crying in front of strangers, wondering if you’ll know what to say, and questioning if your loss is too recent—or too old—to belong in a grief support group.

The truth is, there is no perfect way to attend GriefShare. You don't need to be emotionally prepared. You don't need the right words or to know exactly what you're looking for. You simply have to come as you are.

GriefShare seminars are hosted by Berean Bible Church, located at 2345 North 185th Street at the corner of First Avenue NE and two blocks east of Meridian Avenue. Free parking off North 185th.

Join Berean's GriefShare group on the gym stage at 12:30 p.m. Bring a lunch and an open heart for healing.

For additional information, call Sherwood Sage at 206 920 8933 or call the church office at 206 363 1466 on Monday through Thursday.
