Seattle/King county Public Health published a detailed article about the changes coming to Apple Health / Medicaid and the options for health care that may be available for some.
Starting October 1, 2026, some non-citizens who are 19 and older who currently qualify for Apple Health will no longer be eligible. When we say non-citizens, we are talking about individuals who are here legally, such as refugees, asylees, or another approved non-citizen.
Work requirements are being added and enrollees must re-enroll every six months.
Public Health is concerned that people who are eligible for coverage will not be able to navigate the bureaucracy to maintain their insurance.
The good news is that health insurance navigators and advocates from community-based organizations including ICHS are here to help.
Together, we are strengthening community collaboration and making sure all people can connect to resources.
