Lady Liberty leads Sunday's protestors at county line

Sunday's weather was mild compared to the last few very cold temperatures on sign waving days.

There was no wind to deter the 200-300 volunteer citizens who come to the intersection of Aurora and 205th to protest.

The sign waving is held every Sunday from 1-2pm at N 205th and Aurora, the county line and the border with Edmonds.  An additional group gathers at N 175th and Aurora near Shoreline City Hall.

Organizers continue to collect food donations for Hopelink.

  1. I'm not sure if there are ever counter protesters at these rallies but this shoreline news post is all over letting us know about every one of these events as if this is some kind of singular monolithic movement. There are in fact many who are relieved to see our govenment finally enforcing it's own laws regarding illegal immigration.

  2. I believe everyone protesting is aware that illegal immigration needs to be addressed. I think the difference among some of us is whether those "enforcing" it need to follow the constitution and existing laws, or if breaking laws to enforce a law is reasonable. If President Obama deported more aliens than any other president and ICE was not so visible in so many cities, what's changed?

    1. I respectfully disagree - the plethora of “no human is illegal” signs in our community would suggest that many are opposed to any form of restriction on immigration, an attitude which on the national level cost the democrats the last election.

  3. These protesters will gladly pay illegals a fraction of the minimum wage to work on their property.

  4. It boggles the mind how many people think that local law enforcement shouldn't work with ICE. When someone without legal status commits a crime and is held in jail, that is the perfect time to respond to an ICE detainer, turn that person over to federal custody, and safely rid our country of a criminal. Since Washington and other sanctuary states don't do this, ICE goes into the community to pick these people up at much greater risk to everyone -- the agents themselves, the criminal, the criminal's family, innocent bystanders, even protesters.

If you don't like federal law, work to change it. Impeding law enforcement is what anarchists do. I hear a lot of "democracy matters" and "no one is above the law." Are these words you actually live by, or not?

  5. Responding to 7:53PM. I would suggest to you that what has changed is that this time there is a Repub president.
