Assault in Fred Meyer parking lot sends one to hospital

Sometime around 5pm on Saturday, an individual with mental issues took offense with another man in the Fred Meyer parking lot at 185th and Aurora and knocked him to the ground.

Witnesses restrained the assailant for Shoreline police, who took him into custody.

Shoreline Fire arrived, stabilized the victim and transported him to the hospital with a head injury.

At one point there were at least three aid vehicles and three police vehicles on the scene.

This is very sad that all this is happening to a business who lots of people use to shop at, with the beggars and all the garbage litter needles beer cans...it is hard to feel safe...and now this proving it isn't safe. Fred's have had Security guards on duty for months, but apparently this hasn't helped. Very sad that a few 2nd class people can ruin a thriving business that pays taxes and supports the community

  3. It's nice that we are spending money on schools. But we may need to address the mental health crisis in this city as well. King County deputies do a great job and I believe that we should spend more money on training for the increased homeless and mentally ill citizens of Shoreline.
