Germany’s perspective on the United States

U.S. and Germany relationship
The Global Affairs Center of Shoreline Community College presents Dr. Frank Wendler speaking on Germany’s perspective on the United States

While the United States continues to be a key political partner and ally in Europe, new challenges have arisen recently, including:
  • The future economic, political and military partnership between Europe and the U.S.
  • The rise of populist politics and anti-immigrant rhetoric in both the U.S. and Europe

Dr. Wendler is Visiting Professor, Department of Political Science and the Jackson School of International Studies, University of Washington.

Dr. Wendler recently published a book about European regional politics and political polarization, and argues that recent developments, including the rise of populism in both the U.S. and in Europe, reflect long-standing challenges since the end of the Cold War rather than entirely new ones
