Shorecrest golfer Jones finishes tied for 6th in 2A boys’ State Tournament

Trent Jones of Shorecrest finished tied for sixth in the boys’ 2A state tournament with a two-round total of 143 (69-74) after the final day of competition on Thursday at the par 70 Liberty Lake Golf Course near Spokane, 10 strokes behind the champion from Ephrata.

Shorecrest had two players continuing after the first round of 2A play Wednesday -- Jones in the boys' tournament and Jac Longstrieth in the girls' tournament.

After the first round, Jones had been in a tie for second in the boys' tournament with a one-under-par 69 that put him three strokes behind the leader.

In the 2A girls' tournament on the par 72-72--144 MeadowWood course, Longstreith shot a 96-93--189 to tie for 31st. The Ephrata winner shot 71-68--139 to win by 19 strokes.

Longstreith's teammate Elizabeth Holmdahl shot a 102 Wednesday to miss qualifying for Thursday play by six strokes.

In the boys' 3A tournament in Kennewick, Madsen of Shorecrest missed the cut by 10 strokes when he shot a 20-over-par 92.
