Shoreline Planning Commission meetings to be video recorded

Beginning March 5, City of Shoreline Planning Commission meetings will be live-streamed and video recorded.

Similar to how the City Council meetings are available for online viewing, residents will now be able to view meetings live from anywhere where there is internet access.

They will also be able to view past video-recorded meetings.

To view live streamed and recorded meetings visit the webpage.

  2. The Jan 29 Planning Commission meeting was not recorded, purportedly due to operator error. On the agenda was a public hearing on the Aurora Square community renewal area (CRA) and a discussion of the 185th street light rail station area FEIS. The CRA public hearing will be repeated at great inconvenience to the public. The light rail discussion is lost forever. Sadly, it appears to take a gigantic mishap such as this to bring about a positive change for the public. Video, and more importantly, an indexed, searchable recording, is a great tool for citizens to maintain control of the instruments of government, which serve them. And with the decision to videotape presumably comes the necessity (and insurance) of having a technician on site to monitor the recording process. All in all, this is a big step toward making Planning Commission meetings more accessible to the public.

    1. Correction: The lost discussion was for the 145th St light rail station area DEIS, not the 185th FEIS.
