The Caution for Echo Lake has been lifted

Echo Lake is no longer posted for toxic algae

According to Jennifer Adams, Surface Water Quality Specialist in the Shoreline Public Works Department, seven algae scum samples have been tested for toxicity in 2014.

The sample collected at the center of Echo Lake on October 6, 2014 tested positive for 7.45 µg/L for microcystins.  The Washington State Provisional Recreational Guidelines recommend caution when microcystins are ≥ 6µ/L.  As a result of this sample, a Caution was posted on October 9, 2014.

Two subsequent surveys of the lake (on October 13 and October 20, 2014) found no algae scums from which to sample. The Caution posting has been lifted.
