Local voters favored liquor privatization initiative by a slightly smaller margin than State as a whole

Local voters joined the rest of the State in approving the liquor-privatization initiative on the Nov. 8 general-election ballot.

Voters in Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, Kenmore and the rest of the King County portion of the 32nd Legislative District approved Initiative 1183 by a 57 percent to 43 percent margin, according to figures that the secretary of state’s office released Tuesday.

That’s a slightly smaller margin than the statewide approval rate of 59 percent to 41 percent. The King County average matched the statewide average of 59 percent to 41 percent.

The initiative will close State=run liquor stores and allow liquor sales at large retail stores.
