The Western Front, Christmas Eve, 1914.
Out of the violence of the Great War's trenches comes silence, then a song as a young German soldier steps into no man's land singing “Stille Nacht”. Thus begins a Christmas miracle of epic human proportion. All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 was created by Peter Rothstein of Theater Latte` Da from letters, war journals and the poetry and songs of World War I, with musical arrangements by Cantus artistic director Erick Lichte and composer Timothy C. Takach. Through new arrangements of European carols and war-songs for a capella voices, Cantus recalls the improbable World War I truce between Allied Forces and German soldiers in no man's land on Christmas, 1914 through storytelling and song.
