  1. 72.91% seems high. What is Shorelines usually voter turnout?

  2. Turnout was high all over the State -- 71,85% -- and the County -- 71.65%. Both figures were the highest for a non-presidential election in 40 years, We don't have competitive figures broken down to the local level, but Shoreline usually voters at a higher rate than the rest of the County.
    • State and County officials credit the high turnout to the US Senate race and six controversial initiatives. The record turnout came in 1970, when the State voted on an initiative to legalize abortion,
    • You'll notice 1,769 voters who cast ballots but skipped the Shoreline tax proposition. These "undervotes" are from people who cast votes at the top of the ballots but didn't keep voting down the ticket -- a normal phenomenon.

  4. Yes, Shoreline had a turnout of a 72.91, but you'll notice that the adjacent posts with figures from the Court District and the King County part of the 32nd Legislative District show turnout over 74 percent, meaning that voters in Lake Forest Park and Kenmore turned our at a higher rate than Shoreline voters,
    • Lake Forest Park is known for high voter turnout.
    • The Court District is Shoreline, Lake Forest Park and Kenmore.
    • The King County part of the 32nd District is the same area plus the Finn Hill area never Kirkland.
