The Revival: a retrospective of dance from Rex Kinney


Rex Kinney, Coach of the championship Shorecrest Hip Hop dance team, is choreographing a show consisting eight of his favorite numbers from the past eight years of teaching hip hop dance. It includes routines of the State/National Champion Shorecrest Hip Hop team as well as professional guest groups.

SAY Dance and Sense Salons Presents: "The Revival" on June 25 and 26, both nights at 8 pm at the Shorecrest Performing Arts Center, 15343 25th Ave NE, Shoreline 98155.

Information on the show:
"The Revival" is an autobiographical dance journal of favorite works, friends, dancers, and inspirations created by hip hop choreographer and artist, Rex Kinney. 

Featured guest companies and choreographers include: National/State Champion Shorecrest Hip Hop Dance Team, Boom-Katzz, Westlake Performing Group (pictured, right), DC9, Salsa Salvaje (pictured, left), Kirsten Barron, Stephanie Dehrkoop, Michelle Chandler-Smith, Kirsten Cooper, and many more.


About Rex Kinney:
Rex Kinney has had the pleasure of performing and choreographing for the Pacific Northwest Ballet's REACH and DANCE CHANCE Program, Poncho's Auction Gala, Village Theater's The King and I, Seattle Theater Group’s DANCE This, Adjunct Instructor through Cornish College of Arts, Experience Music Project, Seahawks and Seattle Sonics/Storm Half-Time shows, Seattle Academy, Evoke Productions, Kube 93.3 FM's Summer Jam Concert on the main stage, opening for Cypress Hill, the Children's Hospital Benefit Showcase, and the UW Conference for former Governor Gary Locke.
 
Director and Choreographer for the Shorecrest HS Hip Hop Team, he has led them to 6 straight District Titles and 3 WIAA State Dance/Drill Championships in 2006, 2009 (photo, left), 2010 with a 3rd place ranking at Nationals in 2007 and First-Place at Nationals in 2010. He is also an instructor through the UW Experimental College and Westlake Dance Center in Seattle.
