Citizens for Shoreline Schools Campaign kick-off

Volunteers representing every school in the Shoreline School District, the Home Exchange Network, the Shoreline Children's Center, and Room Nine gathered at the Shoreline Center on the evening of January 13 to finalize the plans for publicizing the three school measures which are on the ballot due back to King County Elections by February 9.

Speakers included Sue Walker, Superintendent of Schools; David Wilson, School Board President; Elizabeth Beck, President of the Shoreline Education Association (teachers' union); Barbara Cruz and Rose McLaughlin, SESPA Co-Presidents (Shoreline Educational Support Professionals Association); Lyn Sherry, WEA Uniserv Rep (State Teachers' Union); Bill Dunbar, Principal Shorewood High School; and Kristi Queen, Assistant Principal, Shorecrest High School who spoke for principal Pat Hagerty, who was out of town.

Co-chairs Krista Tenney, Wes Brandon, and Dom Amor ran the event. A highlight for the crowd was meeting students from the video classes at Shorecrest and Shorewood and watching their video productions. Teacher Marty Ballew and student producer/director Javier Caceres from Shorewood were unable to attend as they were taping an appearance on the Rachael Ray show.
