According to reporting by our News Partner Leland Dart at My Everett News, Kate Reardon at the City of Everett, said that

Everett City Public Works crews finished repair work at about 7:07 a.m. Friday, April 13 on a 20-inch iron sewer pipe that broke this Thursday morning near the 11800 block of Silver Way and had spilled hundreds of thousands of gallons of sewage into North Creek.
Water quality samples have been taken, with results expected late today. The City is working with Snohomish and King counties, Bothell and Mill Creek to continue to sample the Creek water until it returns to normal urban creek conditions.
The pipe was only 30 years old and there was no indication of why it broke. The damage was more extensive than originally thought, and took longer to repair. Everett set up diversion points to capture the sewage from the stream after the break was discovered.

According to King County, North Creek originates in highly urbanized south Everett within the Everett Mall area and flows 12.6 miles southward through the City of Mill Creek before draining into the Sammamish River near Bothell.  The Sammamish River empties into Lake Washington at the north end, on the east side, directly across from Lake Forest Park.

There is no indication of how much sewage will reach or has reached Lake Washington.

The Shoreline Community College Baseball Team that was outscored by Bellevue College on Saturday 24-1, struck back on Sunday at Meridian Park in Shoreline, with a 5-0 upset of the #1 ranked team in the NWAACC, Bellevue College in the first game of the day. Lightning almost struck twice, as SCC lead 1-0 after the 7th inning of the second game, but the Bulldogs pulled through with a 4 run ninth to dismantle the hopes of a second upset on the day, 5-2.

In game 1, SCC struck early, scoring two runs in the first and then adding 3 in the 4th for the 5-0 win. Jason Shaw pitched a 2 hit shutout for his first victory of the year. Shaw stuck out just one and walked one, but kept the Bulldogs off stride. He pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the 7th, Bellevue's only threat of the game.

Shoreline CC baseball swept by #1 ranked Bellevue College on Saturday

Add SCC Baseball struggles this season to a 1-22 record.

The Dolphin Baseball Team found the trip to Bellevue College on Saturday to be a rough one, as the Dolphins were pounded in the opening game, 18-0, but SCC battled back in the second game, dropping a 6-1 game.

SCC injuries forced the Dolphins to pitch a position player in relief on Saturday in the first game, plus put infielders in the outfield as the young team tries to survive a tough season.

In the first game, Bellevue scored in all four of its at bats, as the Bulldogs scored 2, 4, 6 and 6 in their at bats to have the game called after 41/2 innings. Daniel Cavanaugh and Robin Nuyen hit doubles for SCC but that was the only two hits for SCC in the game.

In the second game, SCC took the lead in the top of 3rd 1-0 on a Matt Sweeny homerun, but BC went ahead in the bottom of the inning 2-1 and added 2 more in the 4th to take a 4-1 lead. SCC could not muster another run and Bellevue scored 2 more in the 6th to finish the scoring for the day. Robin Nuyen had another double.

SCC is now 1-22 for the season and 0-10 in the NWAACC Northern Region. Bellevue goes to 23-4 and 9-1.

SCC faces Bellevue again today at 1:00 pm at Meridian Park in Shoreline.

Seattle Storytellers transport you to a kind, harmonious earth for Earth Day

Green tales can take you to a kinder, harmonious earth: The Seattle Storytellers’ Guild Mobilizes for Earth Day 2012. April 21, 7pm at Haller Lake Community Club.

Bring your friends and family to this fun, earthy celebration--performances are adult in nature and geared for ages 13 and up. The telling starts at 7 p.m. and continues until 9 p.m. Tickets are available at the door for $10 (for members) and $12 (for non-members).

“A Night of Green Tales” gets to the heart of the matter with expert teller Pat Peterson. For more than twenty years, Peterson has told stories to audiences of all ages, blending traditional tales with her original stories in a way that will make you glad to be a citizen of the earth. Beloved by audiences from Canada to California, Peterson takes the art of storytelling to new heights.

Tom Rawson, singer, story teller

Tom Rawson, armed with guitar, lap dulcimer, numerous stories and infectious wit always gets audiences to sing and clap, and sometimes, wild dances break out. Rawson brings his own stories to the stage and delights audiences as he weaves melodies, harmonies and mysteries together. Rawson is a man with a banjo and he’s not afraid to use it. He has been advocating for social justice and kindness to the earth and fellow humans for many decades.

“A Night of Green Tales” will put a smile on your face and some new information in your pockets. You just might leave knowing a little more about the earth when blogger, news writer and climate change expert Richard Pauli takes the stage. Pauli tells an ancient story of King Canute—perhaps the first English king—who set up his throne by the sea and then imagines: If he lived on that shoreline today, what would he see? It is a fascinating story that teaches each individual what you can do to sustain the future.

Mary Anne Moorman, KBCS.FM storyteller, also known as “Auntmama,” serves as emcee for “A Night of Green Tales.” Auntmama adds a small tale and large laughter to any show. She’s gearing up to get down for Earth Day and she will reveal what that means on April 21 when “A Night of Green Tales” lights up the stage at Haller Lake Community Club.

Haller Lake Community Club is nestled in North Seattle between I-5 and Aurora Avenue North, on the corner of Densmore Avenue and North 128th Street - 12579 Densmore Ave. N., Seattle, WA 98133, or check the Seattle bus schedule for the one that stops right out front.
