Wildfires: OIE Fire in Benton County at 1,300 acres and growing

Benton County – State fire assistance has been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working to contain the OIE Fire located in Benton County, near Benton City. 

Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources on July 3, 2023, at 4:30pm at the request of Fire Chief Dennis Bates, Benton County Fire District 2.

The OIE Fire started on July 3, 2023, at approximately 1:15pm This fire is estimated at 1,300 acres and growing. It is burning in grass and brush and is threatening homes, crops, electrical distribution, and interstate commerce. No evacuations are in effect at this time, however shelter-in-place orders have been issued. The fire cause is currently under investigation.

Wildfires: Tunnel Five Fire in Skamania County

Monday, July 3, 2023


Skamania County – State fire assistance has been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working to contain the Tunnel Five Fire located in Skamania County, near the town of Underwood. 

Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources on July 2, 2023, at 1:45pm at the request of Fire Commissioner Dennis Seidman, Skamania County Fire District 3.

The Tunnel Five Fire started on July 2, 2023, at approximately 11:37am. This fire is estimated at 150 acres and growing. It is burning in timber and brush and is threatening homes. Level 3 evacuations are in effect at this time. The fire cause is currently under investigation.

Wildfires: Rest Haven fire in Yakima County near Selah - evacuations in effect


Yakima County – State fire assistance has been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working to contain the Rest Haven Fire located in Yakima County, near the town of Selah. 

Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources on July 2, 2023, at 3:45pm at the request of Deputy Fire Chief Mickey Gillie, Yakima County Fire District 2.

The Rest Haven Fire started on July 2, 2023, at approximately 1:35pm. This fire is estimated at 400 acres and growing. It is burning in brush, grass, and old growth and is threatening homes, Pacific Power trunk lines, and 911 communication towers. 

Levels 1, 2, and 3 evacuations are in effect at this time. The fire cause is currently under investigation.

Deployed firefighters have special training in fighting wildfires.

Wildfires: Moran Creek Fire in Stevens County threatening homes, agriculture, and infrastructure

Stevens County – State fire assistance has been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working to contain the Moran Creek Fire located in Stevens County, near the town of Arden. 

Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources on June 29, 2023, at 6:00pm at the request of Fire Chief Joe Paccerelli, Stevens County Fire District 7.

The Moran Creek Fire started on June 29, 2023, at approximately 1:37pm. This fire is estimated at 40 acres and growing. It is burning in timber, brush and grass and is threatening homes, agriculture, and infrastructure. 

Level 2 and 3 evacuations are in effect at this time. The fire cause is currently under investigation.

Wildfires: Methow Fire in Chelan County near Wenatchee

Chelan County – State fire assistance has been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working to contain the Methow Fire located in Chelan County, near the city of Wenatchee. 

Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources on June 27, 2023, at 2:15pm at the request of Fire Chief Brian Brett, Wenatchee Valley Fire Department.

The Methow Fire started on June 27, 2023, at approximately 1:25pm. This fire is estimated at 50 acres and growing. It is burning in shrub-steppe and is threatening homes and natural resources. 

Level 2 evacuations are in effect at this time. The fire cause is currently under investigation.

Wildfires: Matson Fire in Asotin county - 1,000 acres and growing

Asotin County – State fire assistance has been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working to contain the Matson Fire located in Asotin County, near the town of Anatone.

Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources on June 24, 2023 at 2:15pm at the request of Fire Chief Chad Sanford, Blue Mountain Fire District 1.
 
The Matson Fire started on June 24, 2023, at approximately 10:25am. This fire is estimated at 1,000 acres and growing. It is burning in grass and crops and is threatening approximately 20 homes, water supply, and livestock. No evacuations are in effect at this time. The fire cause is currently under investigation.

Wildfires: Oasis Fire in Walla Walla county - 1500 acres and growing

Walla Walla County – State fire assistance has been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working to contain the Oasis Fire located in Walla Walla County, near the town of Touchet. 

Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources on June 19, 2023, at 5:00pm at the request of Fire Chief Rusty Waite, Walla Walla County Fire District 6.

The Oasis Fire started on June 19, 2023, at approximately 3:22pm. This fire is estimated at 1,500 acres and growing. It is burning in grass and sage and is threatening agriculture, homes, and infrastructure. 

No evacuations are in effect at this time. The fire cause is currently under investigation

Hover Road and Hansen Road Fires
Where:      Benton County, near the city of Finley
Date:         June 13, 2023, at 4:15pm 
Requested by: Fire Chief Lonnie Click, Benton County Fire District 1, and Fire Chief Dennis Bates, Benton County Fire District 2.
Size:        1000 acres combined and growing
Description:burning in grass, brush, timber and is threatening homes
Evacuations: Level 2 evacuations are in effect at this time.
Cause:       currently under investigation.

Ruppert Road Fire
Where:      Benton County, near the city of  West Richland
Date:         June 13, 2023, at 8:30pm 
Requested by: Fire Chief Paul Carlyle, Benton County Fire District 4
Size:        250 acres and growing
Description: burning in brush and grass and is threatening homes, radio infrastructure, and power lines. 
Evacuations: Level 2 evacuations are in effect at this time.
Cause:       currently under investigation.
 
Hat Rock Fire
Where:      Walla Walla County, near the town of Touchet
Date:         June 13, 2023, at 11:00am northeast of Hermiston, Oregon, and crossed into Washington at approximately 8:00pm. 
Requested by: Fire Chief Rusty Watt, Walla Walla County Fire District 6.
Size:        8500 acres and growing
Description:  burning in grass and brush and is threatening homes, infrastructure, power lines and crops. Evacuations: Level 1 evacuations are in effect at this time.
Cause:       currently under investigation.
