Get ready for a week of engaging events in Shoreline! Start with "Suited for Space" on July 31, where young explorers can design spacesuits for marshmallow astronauts at the Richmond Beach Library. 

Then, on August 3, extend your vegetable harvests with a free gardening class and enjoy fresh produce and local goods at the Shoreline Farmers Market. 

Don’t miss the scenic Richmond Highlands to Boeing Creek Walk and the magical Lunchtime Concert featuring AlakaSam on August 6. For the littlest ones, there's Baby Story Time at Shoreline Library on August 5.

Learn how you can address climate change in your own yard and garden. The WSU Extension King County Master Gardeners will present a series of six classes on different aspects of gardening in a time of climate change in July and August. Funding has been provided, in full or in part, by the City of Shoreline’s Environmental Mini-Grant Program. The classes will be held in person at the Spartan Recreation Center, 202 NE 185th St., Shoreline, WA 98155. All classes are Saturday mornings, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Classes are free to residents of Shoreline. However, space is limited, and registration is required.

Shoreline is hosting a variety of exciting events this week. On Wednesday, July 17th, attend Fix-It Night at the Shoreline Tool Library to repair household items, and learn about the upcoming Light Rail at the Connecting Shoreline: Light Rail Preview event. 

That evening, enjoy live music and activities at Swingin' Summer Eve in Cromwell Park. On Thursday, July 18th, join the Shoreline Historical Museum for a Historical Borders and Boundaries Walk & Talk.

We will help you fix and learn to fix your broken tools, lamps, toys, furniture, appliances, and any other broken items that you can carry in on your own. We encourage you to help as much as you can and enjoy the community of reuse!

The Highland Terrace Kids Parade is on for the 4th of July. It is a small, old fashioned hometown event. Here is what is needed: Juice and lots of cookies + come early to help set up. If you are willing to make Cappuccino at the booth, please let us know. If you can purchase saltwater taffy at Town & Country, please let us know. I am passing the lead on this over the Paul Van Hollebeke and would like him to get as much assist as possible, so he continues to be the energy to initiate it. This is a 100% neighborhood sponsored and paid for event. If you do not have small children, come and lend a hand, throw candy, decorate the canopy and enjoy your neighbors.

Miyawaki Forest Celebration

Celebrate the first summer of the Miyawaki urban forest. Learn about a Miyawaki Urban Forest and see what’s growing as we stir up the earth with sounds of drums from different cultures. Enjoy an evening of drumming and learning. We are celebrating the first summer of the Miyawaki Urban Forest that was planted by community in December 2023.

Program: Seattle Kokon Taiko (Japanese percussion instruments) and JHP Legacy (Ghanian percussion instruments) see what’s growing as we stir up the earth with sounds of drums from different cultures.

This is an outdoor event. Bring a picnic and blanket, or purchase food at the event. There will also be activities for all ages, tours of the Miyawaki Urban Forest and informational booths.

Get ready for a fun-filled week in Shoreline with a variety of exciting events! Kick off on June 19 with a Reading Picnic hosted by Silent Book Club Shoreline at Cromwell Park, then head over to Shoreline City Hall to celebrate Juneteenth with performances and a Black small business marketplace. 

Don't miss the chance to fix your household items at the Shoreline Tool Library's Fix-It Night. The week continues with a Summer Solstice Picnic for Members only at Kruckeberg Botanic Garden and a Solstice Labyrinth Walk at Richmond Beach Saltwater Park on June 20. 

Celebrate Pride with a dinner at Town & Country Shoreline on June 21, followed by a lively Shoreline Farmers Market and family fun at the "Rainbow on a Plate" event on June 22. Cap off the day with the musical comedy "A Pirate's Love For Me!" at Shoreline Community College Theater. 

Families can enjoy Story Time at the Shoreline Library on June 24, which also marks the start of the Free Summer Meals program for kids. Read more details below for a week full of community, learning, and celebration!

Silent Book Club Shoreline - Reading Picnic

It’s time to start collecting all those items around the house that need to be fixed but you don’t know how. We are having a fixing night at the new Shoreline Tool Library. We will help you fix and learn to fix your broken tools, lamps, toys, furniture, appliances, and any other broken items that you can carry in on your own. We encourage you to help as much as you can and enjoy the community of reuse!

Summer Solstice Picnic | A Members Event

Gather with fellow Kruckeberg members as we celebrate the start of a brand-new summer and the longest day of the year! This event is exclusively for members, though members can register up to 10 guests, including themselves.
Event Details:
· When and where: Thursday, June 20th, at 5-8pm at Kruckeberg Botanic Garden
· Deadline for Event Registration: Wednesday, June 19th (register below)
· Deadline for (optional) Food Orders: Friday, June 14th, at 5pm
· Entry fee and drink tix: Registration is $15 per adult over 21. Each registered adult receives up to 2 FREE DRINKS for Virtue Cellars wine and/or non-alcoholic options.
· Parking: Overflow parking is available on nearby side streets and at the parking lot of Richmond Beach Congregational Church (located .4 miles from Kruckeberg, about a 7 minute walk).
· Upon Entrance: The Kruckeberg member who registered guests must be present for their guests to enter. Each registered adult can receive up to two drinks from Virtue Cellars wine, provided onsite.
· Food and drink: Bring your own food and drink OR purchase a Le Petite Paquet picnic box on this registration form. For those who purchase picnic boxes, please pick up your order at the Garden on the day of the picnic.
· Seating: Bring along your own picnic blanket and set up in the Meadow located in the Lower Garden. You’ll also find picnic tables available for your convenience.
· Activities: Games and children’s activities will be available near the Children’s Garden.
