SCC defeats Bellevue 3-2 to take the lead in Northern Region

The Lady Dolphins Volleyball Team came back from a 2-1 deficit to win the final two games of the match, 25-22 and 15-10 to defeat Bellevue College on Wednesday night in the SCC Gym. SCC jumped on top in the first game, 25-18, but Bellevue answered back winning the next two games 25-22 and 25-11, but SCC gained control of the match halfway through the 4th game and jumped out to a 10-4 lead in the fifth game to win the battle.

Lisa Day led SCC with 22 kills while Hannah Stoeve had 10. Christine Jenson had 53 assists as the setter for Shoreline. Laura Friar led BC with 35 kills.

SCC is now 12-4 overall, 5-0 in the region. Bellevue falls to 13-8 and 4-1 in the region. SCC plays at the NWAACC Crossover Tournament Friday and Saturday at Bellevue College.

Jenson, a sophomore setter from Mountlake Terrace High School was named the SCC Volleyball Player of the Week. 

She had 32 assists in a 3-0 victory over Whatcom CC on Wednesday and 31 assists in a 3-0 victory over Everett CC on Friday.

SCC plays Bellevue College on Wednesday night in the SCC Gym at 7:00 pm. 

SCC and Bellevue are tied for first place in the region with 4-0 records. 

SCC is 11-4 overall and Bellevue is 13-7.

The Lady Dolphin Volleyball Team faces the Lady Bulldogs of Bellevue College on Wednesday night in the SCC Gym at 7:00 PM with hopes of moving into sole possession of first place in the NWAACC Northern Region. Both teams are tied in the region with 4-0 records.

SCC is 11-4 overall and is lead by the 2010 MVP of the Northern Region, sophomore Lisa Day from Ballard High School. Day had 13 kills in the team’s victory on Friday night against Everett Community College. The team is sophomore heavy with setter Christine Jenson from Mountlake Terrance High School providing experience in running the offense attack, Laura Postor from Shorewood High School roaming the back line in her libero position (defensive specialist) and sophomores Kelly Klebeck (Blanchet High School) and Amanda Arnoux (Nathan Hale High School) provide offense support for Day from the outside hitting positions and Hannah Stoeve from Shorewood High School maintains the middle blocker position.

Three freshmen round out the squad, Jasmyn Ray from Ingraham High School, Haruka Murakami, an international student from Japan who walked on the team and Hailey Stuart, a women’s basketball player who joined the team recently and is from Vancouver, BC.

SCC was co-champions of the region in 2010 as they were tied with Whatcom Community College with 10-2 records in the division. SCC dropped the final match of the season at Whatcom to fall into the tie. SCC defeated Whatcom last week in Bellingham 3-0. SCC has won 6 streak matches by 3-0 scores.

Game time is 7:00 pm on Wednesday night in the SCC Gym. Admission is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for non-SCC students, Seniors, SCC Faculty and Staff and active Military personnel. SCC students and children 5 and under are free.

The Shoreline Community College Volleyball team rolled on Friday night in the SCC Gym, defeating Everett Community College 25-12, 25-11 and 25-12. Lisa Day led the Dolphins with 13 kills while Lauren Deatrick had 7 serving aces and Christine Jenson had 31 assistants from the setter position.

SCC is now 11-4 overall and 4-0 in the NWAACC Northern Region. Everett falls to 2-20 and 0-5 in the region. Shoreline faces Bellevue College on Wednesday night in the SCC Gym. Bellevue is also 4-0 in the region and 13-7 overall. The winner takes sole possession of first place in the region. Match time is 7:00 pm.

Shorewood volleyball team takes winning record into Wednesday home match; Shorecrest has home matches Monday and Tuesday

Shorewood volleyball team takes winning record into Wednesday home match with Glacier Peak after 3-0 victory over Getchell and upset win over Oak Harbor; Shorecrest has home matches Monday and Tuesday

The Shorewood volleyball team takes a 4-3 Wesco 3A record (5-4 overall) into a Wednesday home match with Glacier Peak after a 3-0 victory at Marysville Getchell Thursday and an upset win over Oak Harbor two days earlier.

Shorecrest, meanwhile, takes a 0-4. 1-7 record into matches Monday at Marysville-Getchell (0-5, 0-7) and Wednesday at Everett after a 3-0 home loss to Glacier Peak Thursday.

All three matches start at 7 pm.

In Shorewood’s 3-0 victory over Marysville-Getchell, Madison Welsh scored seven kills and eight aces for the Thunderbirds and Marianne Kellogg had 21 assists. Molly Whipple added seven kills in Shorewood’s 25-19, 25-16, 25-5 victory.

Shorewood upset Oak Harbor in four games. 21-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-19. Oak Harbor had been undefeated in league play.

Shorewood was led by Whipple with 18 kills, seven blocks and 22 digs, Monica Postor had 16 kills, four service aces and 19 digs. Welsh had 15 kills and eight digs. Kellogg had 37 assists, and libero Dana Brindle had 22 digs.

In Shorecrest’s 3-0 loss to Glacier Peak, Stephanie Taylor had ten assists; Aiko Canfield scored five kills, nine digs and three blocks; and Diana Conwell had five blocks for the Scots, who lost 25-13, 25-11.

The previous week, Shorewood had lost to Lynnwood, 3-0, September 28, and Everett, 3-1, September 29.

In the loss to Lynnwood, Brindle had 13 digs, Kellogg had 14 assists, and Postor had nine kills.

In the loss to Everett, Whipple had 18 kills and five blocks; Kellogg had 25 assists; Postor had 18 kills; and Brindle had 13 digs.

Shorecrest had lost a 3-0 home match to Oak Harbor, September 29, 25-13, 25-17 and 25-15, Conwell had 13 kills, four blocks and 10 digs; Canfield scored four kills. Hallie Williams scored three kills.

SCC Volleyball Beats Whatcom 3-0

The Lady Dolphin Volleyball Team beat Whatcom Community College on Wednesday night in Bellingham, WA by the scores of 25-12, 25-22 and 25-22. 

Sophomore Lisa Day, the Northern Region MVP in 2010, led SCC with 16 kills as the SCC squad put away the team they shared the NWAACC Northern Region crown with last season as SCC and Whatcom tied for the region championship.

SCC is now tied with Bellevue College at 3-0 in the region standings. 

SCC faces Everett Community College at home on Friday at 7:00 pm before the showdown with Bellevue next Wednesday in the SCC Gym.

Lauren Deatrick named SCC Volleyball Player of the Week

Freshman Lauren Deatrick from Shorecrest High School was named SCC's Volleyball Player of the Week for her efforts against rival Edmonds Community College on Friday night.

Deatrick scored 15 points in a row as the server to break open a close first game and lead SCC to a 3-0 victory over their Northern Region foe.

SCC is now 9-4 overall and 2-0 in the NWAACC Northern Region. SCC plays at Whatcom CC on Wednesday night in a battle of the Co-Champions of the region from 2010.

Shoreline Community College Volleyball Pounds Edmonds CC

The Lady Dolphin Volleyball Team beat rival Edmonds Community College on Friday night at Edmonds 3-0. SCC pounded the Tritons 25-12, 25-17, 25-13 to go 2-0 in the NWAACC Northern Region.

SCC is now 9-4 overall and take on Whatcom Community College in Bellingham, WA on Wednesday night at 7:00 PM. SCC and Whatcom shared the Region title last year. WCC is 9-9 this season, 2-1 in the region.

Lisa Day Is Named NWAACC Northern Region Offensive Player of the Week

Shoreline Community College’s volleyball player, Lisa Day, was named the NWAACC Northern Region Offensive Player of the Week. 

Day, a sophomore from Ballard High School in Seattle, was the Northern Region MVP in 2010 and has already been named All-Tournament at the Highline Community College tournament to start the season off.

The Lady Dolphins volleyball team defeated Northwest Indian College on Wednesday night at the SCC Gym and takes on Edmonds Community College on Friday night in Lynnwood, WA at 7:00 pm.

The Lady Dolphins powered past the outmanned Eagles from NW Indian College, 25-2-25-1 and 25-9.

SCC is now 8-4 on the season and 1-0 in the NWAACC Northern Region. SCC returns to region action on Friday night as they play rival Edmonds CC in Lynnwood, WA at 7:00 PM.

The 6'1" middle-blocker from Ingram High School was dominant in the SCC 3-0 victory over Olympic College on Friday night with several powerful spikes and blocks as Ray controlled the front line.

SCC is now 7-4 on the season and 1-0 in the NWAACC Northern Region. SCC plays on Wednesday night against Northwest Indian College in the SCC Gym at 7:00 PM.

The Shorewood volleyball team swept Shorecrest 3-0 Monday, September 26, 2011 at Shorewood in the first meeting of the season between the two teams.

The Thunderbirds and Scots meet again October 24 at Shorecrest.

Shorewood takes a 2-1 Wesco 3A record (3-2 overall) into a Wednesday match at Lynnwood (2-1, 3-1).
Shorecrest takes a 0-4, 1-5 record into a Thursday home match with Oak Harbor.

In the Shorewood 3-0 victory over Shorecrest, the Thunderbirds won the three games, 25-13, 25-16 and 25-19. Monica Postor scored 11 kills and six aces for the Thunderbirds; Molly Whipple scored 13 kills; Maddie Welsh had eight kills and Marianne Kellogg had 29 assists. Diana Conwell led the Scots with eight kills and 13 digs, and Ivy Boad had three blocks and seven digs.

The Shorecrest volleyball team takes a 1-2 Wesco 3A record into a match at Shorewood after a 3-1 home loss to Mountlake Terrace Thursday.

Shorewood takes a 1-1, Wesco 3A record (2-2 overall) into the cross-town match. The Thunderbirds have been idle since defeating Mountlake Terrace 3-0 Monday, Sept. 19.

In Shorecrest’s 3-1 loss to Mountlake Terrace, the Scots won the first game, 25-20, but lost the next three, 25-17, 25-14 and 25-17. Diana Conwell led the Scots with eight kills, four blocks and 22 digs; Stephanie Taylor had 12 assists and nine digs; Aiko Canfield had seven kills, 10 assists and nine digs; and Ivy Boad had nine digs,

The Shoreline Community College Volleyball Team opened its home schedule on Friday night at the SCC Gym. 

The Lady Dolphins looked sluggish in the first game, but came back to win 27-25, and then put Olympic away in the next two games, 25-13, 25-16 to win their first NWAACC Northern Region Game of the year.

SCC is now 7-4 overall and 1-0 in the region. 

Olympic falls to 5-13, 1-1. 

SCC plays next at home against Northwest Indian College on Wednesday at 7:00 PM.

Shorecrest volleyball team prepares for Mountlake Terrace Thursday, Shorewood Monday after losing to Meadowdale, 3-0, Tuesday

The Shorecrest volleyball team takes a 0-2 Wesco 3A record (1-3 overall) into a home match with Mountlake Terrace (0-1 Wesco 3A, 1-2 overall) Thursday before the Scots play at Shorewood (1-1, 2-2) Monday.

Both matches are scheduled for 7 pm.

Shorecrest goes into the two matches after a 3-0 loss to division leader Meadowdale (2-0, 4-0) Tuesday. Scores of the three games were 25-17, 25-10 and 25-17.

Diana Conwell paced the Scots with nine kills nine digs, and four blocks. Aiko Canfield had two kills and five assists, and Ivy Boad had seven digs for Shorecrest.

Shorewood improved its Wesco 3A volleyball record to 1-1 (2-2 overall) going into a Monday, Sept. 26, home game with Shorecrest, with a 3-0 home victory over Mountlake Terrace Monday, Sept. 19.
The Thunderbirds and Shorecrest meet at 7 p.m. Monday.

Marianne Kellogg's 26 assists and Stephanie Vollbroecht's 10 kills led Shorewood's 3-0 sweep of Mountlake Terrace. The Thunderbirds, who took the sets 27-25, 25-23 and 25-17, also had nine kills from Madison Welsh and 14 digs from Dana Brindle.

SCC Volleyball Player of the Week is Hannah Stoeve who was named All-Tournament at the NWAACC Crossover at Clackamas Community College in Oregon City, OR. 

Stoeve, a sophomore from Shorewood High School help lead SCC to a 2-2 record at the event and a tie for third place.

SCC is 6-4 on the season and plays Olympic College on Friday at 7:00 PM in the SCC Gym in the opening game of the NWAACC Northern Region schedule.

SCC Women’s Volleyball Goes 2-2 At NWAACC Crossover

The Lady Dolphin Volleyball Team went 2-2 at the NWAACC Crossover Tournament at Clackamas Community College in Oregon City, OR over the weekend.

The SCC squad was shorthanded for the tournament, as two players could not travel due to personal reasons and one player was injured during the first game of the tournament.

On Saturday, the Dolphins dropped a 0-3 match to the host team from Clackamas but bounced back to beat Big Bend CC 3-0. On Sunday, SCC finished round-robin play with a 3-0 victory over Green River CC. 

In the semi-finals of the tournament, SCC lost to CC of the Spokane 3-1 and finished tied for 3rd place.

Hannah Stove was named to the All-Tournament Team for SCC.

Shoreline is now 6-4 on the season and opens NWAACC Northern Region play on Friday night against Olympic College in the SCC gym at 7:00 PM.

Shoreline Community College fall Volleyball Clinics

The Shoreline Community College volleyball team will conduct two volleyball clinics this fall.

Instructors will be SCC Co-Head Coaches, Raquel and Mark West, plus Assistant Coach Lory Hidano and SCC players. The clinics will be aimed at middle school age players who wish to improve their volleyball skills.

Each clinic will run over four Saturdays in two different sessions.  The cost will be $80 per participant per clinic.

The Shorecrest volleyball team takes a 0-1 Wesco 3A record into its Tuesday match at Meadowdale after a 3-0 home loss to Lynnwood Thursday.

Shorecrest and the undefeated Meadowdale team meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

In the loss to Lynnwood, Diana Conwell paced the Scots with five kills, three blocks and 12 digs. Aiko Canfield had five kills.
