Roll over accident at N 130th and Aurora

A collision on Aurora at 7pm on Friday, July 22, 2022 closed two northbound and two southbound lanes on Aurora between N 130th and N 135th.

Officers arrested a driver who crashed his car into another car, causing the second vehicle to flip over. 

No serious injuries were reported and the road was cleared within a half hour. 

The suspect driver will be investigated for DUI.

Edmonds motorcyclist injured after being struck on I-405 Tuesday

A 23-year-old Edmonds man was taken to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center after the motorcycle he was riding was struck by a vehicle changing lanes on Interstate 405 near Bothell Tuesday, the Washington State Patrol said.

The motorcycle was southbound on Interstate 405 around 12:30 p.m. when the vehicle, a Nissan Pathfinder driven by a 23-year-old Everett woman, changed lanes. She struck the motorcycle and forced it into the guardrail, and the motorcyclist was ejected.

The woman and her three passengers weren’t injured, the state patrol said.

State Patrol seeking witnesses to fatal collision on I-5 at NE 145th

The Washington State Patrol, the investigating agency for the fatal collision on I-5 at NE 145th, is seeking witnesses. (see previous story)

At approximately 11:00am yesterday, July 4, 2022, Washington State Patrol (WSP) communications received 9-1-1 calls advising of a serious collision on NB I-5 near 145th.

When troopers arrived they observed a 2001 Ford F-350 on the left side of the freeway and a black 2021 Kia Niro in the right lane on its top. 

According to witnesses the F-350 was traveling NB on I-5 in the left lane and made an erratic lane change and struck the Kia causing it to go out of control and roll.

The driver of the F-350 fled the scene on foot but was apprehended by witnesses and subsequently arrested by troopers after they observed signs of impairment.

The 71 year old female driver and 81 year old male passenger in the KIA were critically injured and transported to Harborview Medical Center where unfortunately the passenger succumbed to their injuries.
The driver of the F-350 was transported to Northwest Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 
Detectives are submitting charges of Vehicular Homicide, Vehicular Assault, Felony Hit and Run and DUI.

WSP detectives are seeking witnesses to this tragic incident or anyone that observed the Kia Niro F-350 prior to the collision.

Fatal crash on I-5 near NE 145th St Monday

A fatal collision on I-5 near NE 145th around 11am on Monday, July 4, 2022 left one dead, two transported to hospitals and the causing driver charged with DUI, felony hit and run, and vehicular assault.

A Ford pickup driven by 41 year old Daniel Delgado of Shelton, and a Kia driven by 71 year old Christine Farrar of Federal Way, with passenger John T. Farrar of Eatonville, were traveling on northbound I-5 approaching NE 145th St.

Delgado's vehicle was in the HOV lane and Ferrer's vehicle was in lane 2.

Delgado made a sudden swerve to the right, striking Ferrer's vehicle on the driver's side.

Both vehicles veered to the left side, striking the Jersey barrier. Ferrer's vehicle rolled over, coming to rest upside down on the right shoulder. The pickup came to rest on the HOV lane.

Delgado was arrested and taken to Northwest Hospital for medical attention. Both Christine Farrar and John T. Farrar were taken to Harborview where John died.

All northbound lanes of I-5 approaching NE 145th were completely blocked for hours. Unsuspecting drivers caught in the back up were doing whatever they could to get off the freeway, including driving backwards on the shoulder or making U-turns to drive the wrong way down the on-ramp.

State patrol troopers were directing a slow moving four lane merge of vehicles to the one lane off ramp. In the top photo, a Sound Transit bus is apparently trying to turn around to get off the freeway.

Next of kin of the deceased were notified by Harborview. The Washington state patrol released names and similar photos.

Collision on Aurora at N 141st blocks lanes for three hours

A collision on Aurora Ave N at N 141St St around 10pm on Sunday, July 3, 2022 blocked all northbound and southbound lanes for three hours. 

Seattle Police report that this was a fatal car/pedestrian collision. The driver remained on scene and is participating in the investigation

Drivers were advised to seek other routes.

This appears to be the same location as a previous crash on Tuesday (see previous article)

Rollover crash on Ridgecrest street Friday sends four to hospitals

A Ridgecrest resident was making a left turn to NE 174th on Friday evening July 1, 2022 when a southbound Ford Escort hit the northbound turning car.  

The southbound car flipped upside down and landed across the sidewalk. The driver of the southbound vehicle was taken by the Shoreline Medic unit to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.

The passenger in the same car had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to a local hospital by medics.

No injuries from crash on Westminster Way Wednesday

Residents near Westminster Way and N 148th were alarmed by a loud crash Wednesday night June 29, 2022 just after midnight.

Multiple fire and police vehicles responded to the 911 calls.

It was a one-car crash into a fence. The four occupants had no need for treatment.

The aftermath of a dramatic multi-vehicle collision that tied up traffic on Aurora on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 was captured in photos by Seattle resident Chris Read.

Collision Aurora Ave N and N 141, about 430am, June 28, 2022. Three vehicles were involved. The Silver car hit the yellow car and a tow truck with a vehicle in tow. 

The Seattle Fire Department had to cut the driver out of the yellow car.

No information on condition of drivers or how many were taken to Harborview.

Rollover collision on I-5 at 145th Friday closes two lanes

This crash occurred around 5pm on Friday, May 6, 2022, blocking the two right lanes of northbound I-5.

The WSDOT incident response team cleared the vehicles to the shoulder on NB I-5 in Shoreline. All lanes were reopened within the hour.

Vehicle crashes into house on NE 175th

Shoreline Fire reported an emergency response to the 200 block of NE 175th St at 9:48am Thursday, April 14, 2022 for a vehicle that crashed into a house.

Update: The vehicle went off the roadway after coming in contact with another vehicle, through one lot, two fences and into a house.  This is at the 200 block of  NE 175th St.  

The patient was taken to Harborview by the medics in current stable condition. 

Traffic was backed up on NE 175th during the response.

Follow-up: Driver who died in Mountlake Terrace crash identified; police still searching for pickup driver who lost the mattress on I-5

According to reporting in the MLTNews.com, after the State Patrol investigation, 20 year old Yohana M. Ayele of Edmonds was identified as the driver who died at the scene after swerving to miss a mattress in the road. 

She was driving her Nissan sedan northbound on Interstate 5 at 6:38am near 220th St SW when she struck the mattress, which had fallen off a truck just a few minutes earlier. 

After hitting the mattress, her vehicle swerved in front of a semi-truck, driven by a 33-year-old Surrey, British Columbia, man. The semi struck the Nissan on the driver’s side door. The semi came to rest in the HOV lane on the barrier. The Nissan was reported to have come to rest in the freeway’s grass median.

The state patrol is searching for the pickup truck that lost the mattress and left the scene. It is described as a small, older, dark-colored pickup with wood-sided bed racks carrying miscellaneous household items. 

Anyone with any information about the truck or its occupants is asked to contact Washington State Patrol Detective Dan Komnick at 360-654-1204.

Fatality accident on I-5 in Mountlake Terrace caused by a mattress in the roadway

Around 7:30am on Saturday, March 12, 2022 Washington State Patrol (WSP) troopers were responding to reports of a mattress lost from a vehicle on northbound I-5 at 220th St SW in Mountlake Terrace and blocking the road.

Shortly after, a semi-truck struck the mattress, lost control and collided with another vehicle, killing the driver.

All northbound lanes were shut down and traffic diverted to 220th St SW while units worked the scene. The road was reopened at 12:30pm.

WSP asked anyone who saw the vehicle that lost the mattress to contact them. According to reports they received, the vehicle could possibly be a small older dark colored pickup truck with wood sided bed racks carrying misc. household items.

The truck was reported to have pulled over to the right shoulder in the area of the incident around 6:35am.

Passengers in burning van were rescued by Sound Transit contractors

New details on the van crash and fire previously reported.

After rolling over the concrete barrier and landing on its side, the van was "well-involved in flames" with the driver and two passengers inside.

The crash happened near where Sound Transit constructions crews were working on the Lynnwood Link light rail project.

Seattle Fire reports that the two adult males were pulled out of the burning vehicle by construction employees prior to SFD's arrival.

We'd like to thank the construction company "Stacy and Witbeck/Kiewit/Hoffman, JV." for their quick life-saving actions! The actions of your employees likely saved their lives.

Sound Transit said: A huge thank you to members of our Lynnwood Link light rail extension contractor team - way to go @StacyWitbeck!

Stacy and Witbeck responded: We are glad everyone is safe and that we could help.

The status of the driver is still unknown.

Horrific single car crash on I-5 puts two in hospital with driver's condition unknown

Very little is known at this point about a dramatic crash on I-5 at 130th Friday morning around 9:30am, March 4, 2022.

What is known is that a white van was northbound on I-5 just past Northgate. 

Just before 117th the vehicle left the roadway on the righthand side and struck the concrete barrier.

The vehicle ricocheted back across two lanes. The driver overcorrected and went back across the same two lanes to the right shoulder, flipping up and over the barrier and coming to rest on its side, in flames.

The two passengers were taken to Harborview. One was identified as a 39 year old Kent resident; the other was not identified. 

Due to the extent of damage and injury, the driver was not able to be identified, nor was his condition known.

GoFundMe page set up for local mom killed in collision on 185th Tuesday

A GoFundMe site has been set up for the family of a local mother killed in a three vehicle collision at N 185th and Linden in Shoreline Tuesday evening, November 16, 2021. Her two young girls were in the vehicle and are in the hospital recovering from injuries suffered in the collision.

Three car fatality collision at 185th and Linden

Shoreline Fire reports a three car vehicle collision at 185th and Linden. 

This resulted in a fatality and two other patients transported to Harborview by the medics. 

Area surrounding is shut down for an investigation.

According to neighbors, a man who was involved in the crash ran from the scene on foot.

He ran west, and was spotted running through yards in the Richland Highlands neighborhood.

A detective who was tracking him, apparently with the assistance of the Guardian One helicopter, saw him duck into a yard where he was found hiding in a shed and was taken into custody.

Downed power lines trap two in vehicle Thursday

Shoreline Fire was dispatched at 3:25pm on Thursday, October 21, 2021 to power lines which landed on a vehicle trapping the two occupants.

They were extracted safely and suffered no injuries.

25th Ave NE was blocked from multiple power poles down between NE 177th and NE 178th NE. Seattle City Light responded. 

Power was out in the area for some time.

Apparently a tree fell on the lines during the wind / rain weather event. Not exactly the "bomb cyclone" being touted by some, but bad enough for those without power or cable.

Hit and run collision at N 145th and Meridian

Just before 5pm on Saturday, September 25, 2021, a 58 year old driver was at a stop light westbound on N 145th at Meridian. 

He was turning left from 145th to Meridian on a yellow light when he was struck by an eastbound driver. The eastbound driver was traveling at a rate of speed well above the limit.

Both vehicles came to rest in the roadway. The driver of the eastbound vehicle left the car and fled on foot. The juvenile passenger in his car was not injured.

The driver who was stuck was treated at the scene and transported to Harborview.

The roadway was blocked for approximately three hours and fifteen minutes.
