Crash Games to donate 1000+ new board games to Toys for Tots

Friday, December 11, 2015

In an effort to unite friends and family this holiday season Crash Games, LLC is set to donate over 1000 Table Top Board Games to the Toys for Tots Program.

Kids aged 10-17 are often overlooked when it comes to toy and gift donations through charity organizations. Board Games are a fantastic way to involve kids of all ages by bringing everyone to the table to play a fun and engaging game.

This month Crash Games released its newest publication “Pirate Den” a fast paced Pirate themed Bluffing Game that has players acting as Pirate Captains raiding the wealthiest shipping companies in the golden era of piracy. Pirate Den is a highly interactive, social deduction game where players steal loot from the shipping companies and each other too. Crash Games is set to donate 1000 Copies of Pirate Den to the Toys for Tots Foundation.

Crash Games is an independent table top board game design, development and publishing company based in Everett, Washington. Crash Games’ mission is to bring families and friends together through the social and engaging play of modern board games. The Board Game Industry has grown tremendously from beloved classics like Monopoly and Risk and seen a tremendous resurgence in independent publishing thanks to games like Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride and Carcassonne. Crash Games is set to publish six board games in 2016 to add to its existing catalog of 10+ games.

Crash Games, LLC was founded in 2011 by Patrick Nickell. As a child Patrick grew up in the foster care system in California and received gifts from organizations like Toys for Tots as his Christmas Parents.

“Growing up, Christmas was a tough time for me. Crash Games has a tremendous opportunity to return the generosity that I received as a child and to do our part to make Christmas special for thousands of children in the Seattle Metropolitan area.”

South Snohomish County Toys for Tots includes Shoreline in its area of giving.

Firefighter gift drive for older children ends this Friday

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

There is still time to donate money or a new, unwrapped gift for a child or teen to this year's Shoreline Christmas Toy Drive.

Donations are being accepted during business hours at any Shoreline Fire Station ... or at Fire Department Headquarters, 175th and Aurora.

Financial donations help Firefighters buy gifts for older children -- as many of the donations are toys and games for children under eight.

The Shoreline Christmas project is a joint effort between Shoreline Fire, Shoreline Schools and other community partners. Hundreds of needy families, identified and registered with the School District, are treated to a food basket and a shopping spree at the donated toy store each December.

Contact Melanie Granfors at the Fire Department if you need further information, 206-533-6564.

PODS® of Seattle to brighten youth’s holidays by supporting Starlight Children’s Foundation toy drive, Nov 1 – Dec 31

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

To fill a child’s Christmas with the holiday spirit, PODS® of Seattle, a moving and storage company, has teamed up with Walgreens and the Starlight Children’s Foundation to support the “Starlight Toy Drive” in Seattle and Bellingham, Wash. The drive will run Nov. 1 – Dec. 31.

During the toy drive, PODS of Seattle will donate a wealth of PODS® containers to collect toy and book items and play a big role by serving as the main collection point at Walgreens stores.

The public is encouraged to drop off donations at any of the PODS® containers onsite at Walgreens at 14510 Aurora Ave. N, Shoreline.

“We are honored to be providing moving and storage logistics for the Starlight Children’s Foundation and find it very gratifying to know that our business is able to help bring joy to many ill children this holiday season,” said Darryl Wright, general manger of PODS of Seattle.

Once the toy drive is complete, PODS will deliver the donated toys and books to the local Starlight Children’s Foundation. The items will be distributed to Starlight families and to local hospitals that are a part of the Starlight network of medical facilities. The PODS donation is estimated to save the charity around $5,400 in transportation and logistics costs which will be handled by PODS of Seattle.

“We are so grateful for all of our community partners such as PODS of Seattle and Walgreens,” said Amy Stillion, executive director of the Starlight Children’s Foundation Northwest. “Starlight Children’s Foundation Northwest supplies thousands of toys to children all over Washington State who are medically fragile or are in local hospitals. We really do rely on the entire community to make this happen.”

Founded in 1998, PODS currently provides moving and storage services to a population of more than 250,000,000 million consumers and businesses, in 48 U.S. states, Canada, Australia and the U.K., through its company-owned and independent franchise network. To date, the PODS network has completed more than 400,000 long-distance relocations, exceeded 2,000,000 million deliveries and has over 145,000 PODS® containers in service.

Starlight Children’s Foundation is a non-profit organization providing education, entertainment and family events that improve the quality of life for children with chronic and life threatening medical conditions before, during and after treatment. Starlight Northwest touches the lives of over 7,000 children and their families each month through over 90 in-hospital programs and various outpatient events in Washington and Oregon. To volunteer, support, or learn more about Starlight, contact 425-861-7827.

Toys for Tots looking for a new - much bigger - home

Sunday, July 15, 2012

Committed to continuing the mission of “helping children dream” the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation – South Snohomish County - is looking for a larger facility.

Previously housed in the basement of the VFW in Everett, the 2012 campaign is already generating more requests than in prior years. Now serving communities from Smokey Point south to the King County line (including Shoreline and Naval Station Everett) their expectation is that they will far exceed the 42,696 toys and other personal hygiene items distributed in 2011.

If you have a possible location for this venerable charity, contact:

LCO – South Snohomish County
