This Friday, May 16, local storytellers will hold a Haller Lake Storytelling Evening, 7:30-9:30pm, featuring Norm Brecke and others, followed by a story swap.

The Northwest Folklife Festival at Seattle Center  May 23-26, will provide five venues for stories!!

Seattle Storytellers Guild presents ..."Love Ain't Easy"

Seattle Storytellers Guild presents Haller Lake Storytelling, "Love Ain't Easy" on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 7:30-9:30pm at the Haller Lake Community Club, 12579 Densmore N, Seattle 98133.  
Valentine's Day has passed, but whatever your relationships, you know love demands tending and giving, compromise and luck. Medical student and world traveler Samantha Desmond, and folktale researcher Veronica Muskheli will start off the evening. Then we'll continue in the story circle format.

Bring your stories on the theme of love (easy or not), personal or from folklore (5-8 min. long). Or come as a listener.

The evening will finish with snacks and drinks plus time to chat with other story lovers.

"Wishes and Dreams," New Year's resolutions ?!? Already achieved or already broken? Let's hear instead about wishes and dreams -- stories of poor folk and rich, dragons, devils, and magic fish. 

Judith Alexander (hostess for the evening) and Veronica Muskheli (originally from Russia) share their favorite folk stories. Open mic, with as many stories as time allows.

Please prepare a short (5 minute) contribution to our theme. The evening will finish with snacks and drinks plus time to chat with other story lovers. Donations to support the featured tellers and the purchase of treats are requested and deeply appreciated.

Winter Seattle storytellers guild special event

Tellabration - Friday, November 15, 2013, 7:30 - 9:30pm, Haller Lake Community Club 12579 Densmore N. Seattle 98133.  Donation $l0 ($5 for SSG members).

Tellabration is a world-wide celebration of storytelling.

Debra Harris-Branham, well known and beloved teller for the past 25 years, will share African and African American tales embedded with songs and chants in a rhythmic, energetic style with audience participation.

Norm Brecke, one of our favorite, long time tellers and former Storytellers Guild President, will share folk, personal stories, and songs.

Lorraine Bayes, Song Carrier, Medicine Drummer, co-founder and director of Tickle Tune Typhoon, with concerts, CD’s and accolades for the past 30 years, will offer songs from her Cherokee heritage.

Patty Zeitlin (author, award winning poet, recording artist and songwriter) will share a story, song and dance from Hawaii.

These events are for adults, but older children who enjoy storytelling and are able to listen, are also welcome.

Stirring tales from the
Seattle Storytellers
You are invited to join the Seattle Storytellers for a wonderful evening of deliciously mysterious and ghostly tales on Friday, October 18, at Haller Lake Community Club, from 7:30-9:30 pm.

The first half of the evening for adults will be a line up of four spirited tellers - Tiger Avery, Vicki Stiles, Chris Todd and Cynthia Westby - with a range of spine-tingling to historically inspired yarns.

The second half of the evening will be an open mike for storytellers with a five minute story. Professional storyteller Cynthia Westby will host this evening of tales sponsored by the Seattle Storytellers Guild.  Cynthia is host of the Guild’s monthly story circle at The Bridge Coffee House.

“Happily Ever After” Storytelling Evening on Friday, September 20, 7:30-9:30pm


You and your friends are invited to an evening of stories with storyteller Cynthia Westby, at the Haller Lake Community Club on Friday, September 20, from 7:30-9:30pm. She will be telling an entertaining mix of personal stories and folktales for adults in her program, "Happily Ever After." 

The second hour will be an open mike for tellers offering five-minute stories. Haller Lake Community Club is at 12579 Densmore Ave N, Seattle 98133.
