Shorewood plays host to MLT softball team Thursday after Tuesday loss at Meadowdale

The Shorewood softball team plays host to Mountlake Terrace Thursday after an 11-1 loss at Meadowdale Tuesday.

Shorewood takes a 1-2 Wesco 3A record (3-7 overall) into the game with Terrace (1-2, 4-6) at 6pm Thursday at Meridian Park School. The two teams are in a battle for the final berth in the Northwest District 3A tournament May 20-22 in Everett.

In Shorewood's 11-1 loss at Meadowdale Tuesday, losing pitcher Holly Ebel scored the T-birds' only run when teammate Shelby Wade was hit by a pitch.

Shorewood had lost a 17-0 non-league game at Casccade Frday in a game shortened to five innings by the mercy rule. Abby Gustafsoon hit a double for Shorewood.

The Shorewood junior varsity takes a 0-2 (3-7) record into a 4pm Thursday home game with Terrace after a 15-5 loss at Cascade and a 15-0 loss at Meadowdale.

Shorewood plays at Meadowdale Tuesday

The Shorewood softball team plays at Meadowdale Tuesday after a 13-0 home loss to Edmonds-Woodway April 4, a 24-14 home victory over Shorecrest and a 17-0 loss at Cascade Friday, April 11.

Shorewood takes a 1-1 Wesco 3A record (3-6 overall) into the Meadowdale (3-0, 5-2) at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Meadowdale High School, with junior varsity teams from the two schools playing at the same time at nearby Meadowdale Middle School.

The victory over Shorecrest came as part of the all-day Shorecrest-Shorewood baseball/softball Bonanza.

The loss to Edmonds-Woodway came in a game and Shorewood’s home Meridian Park fields, a game that was shortened to five innings by the mercy rule. Ebony Harrison hit a double for the Thunderbirds. The Shorewood junior varsity lost 15-5.

Shorewood defeats Shorecrest in softball portion of Saturday bonanza

The Shorewood softball team defeated Shorecrest 24-14 as part of the annual baseball/softball bonanza.

The game was shortened by the mercy rule when Shorewood's lead reached 10 runs after six of the scheduled seven innings.

The Shorewood softball team plays at Edmonds-Woodway Friday before playing host to Shorecrest on Shorewood’s home Meridian Park fields.

Shorewood goes into the games after a Monday 9-1 home loss to Glacier Peak at Meridian Park. The Shorewood junior varsity lost to Glacier Peak, 23-1.

Shorewood and Edmonds-Woodway meet at 6pm Friday at Edmonds-Woodway High School, with junior varsity teams from the two schools playing at 4pm.

The Thunderbirds and Shorecrest play at 2:30pm Saturday between the Shorewood-Shorecrest junior varsity and varsity baseball games in the annual Baseball Bonanza, The Shorewood junior varsity softball team plays Nathan Hale at 10:30am.

The Shorewood softball team dropped its record to 2-3 after a 19-0 Friday home loss to Jackson that followed a 10-7 victory over Nathan Hale of Seattle Thursday.


Shorewood lost to Jackson at Shorewood's home Meridian Park fields in a game shortened to five innings by the mercy rule.

Shorewood had played Nathan Hale as the visiting team at Meridian Park Thursday in a game moved from Nathan Hale due to rain The Shorewood junior varsity defeated Hale 22-7.

The Shorewood softball team plays at Kamiak Thursday after a 16-6 home victory over Mariner Tuesday in a game shortened to five innings by the mercy rule.

The Thunderbirds and Kamiak meet at 4 p.m. Thursday at Kamiak High School, with junior varsity teams from the two schools playing at the same time at nearby Harbour Pointe Middle School.

Shorewood opens regular season with Tuesday home softball game against Mariner after Saturday home jamboree

The Shorewood softball team opens its 20-game regular season Tuesday with a home game against Mariner after playing in a jamboree Saturday at Shorewood’s home Meridian Park fields.

Class 3A Shorewood and 4A Mariner meet at Meridian Park at 6 p.m. Tuesday with junior varsity teams from the two schools playing at 4 p.m.

Shorewood then plays at 4A Kamiak Thursday at 4 p.m. at Kamiak High School in Mukilteo, with junior varsity teams meeting at the same time at nearby Harbour Pointe Middle School.

It is time for Softball in Shoreline

Richmond Little League and North King County Little League are registering girls to play softball this spring. Little League Softball is an all inclusive sport that encourages "Courage, Character and Loyalty" and most of all, the players have fun!
Spring will surely arrive when you see ponytails flying as the girls leap to catch the neon yellow ball, or you hear the crack of the bat and girls chanting in the dugout.

Register your child ages 8-18 years for softball this season. Summer All Star softball teams are also formed at the end of the regular season for tournament play starting in in mid June. 

Learn to play! Enhance skills! Clinics are scheduled in January and February for players of all ages and abilities. Team practices start in March.

Richmond Little League offers baseball and softball programs for boys and girls ages 4-18 years old who live or attend school within west Shoreline, west of I-5. Players who attend a public or private school that is also in this area may also play for Richmond Little League. 

North King County Little League serves families who live within Lake Forest Park and the eastern area of Shoreline, east of Interstate 5.

2013 RLL Majors Players and Coaches

Richmond Little League (RLL) has opened registration for the 2014 season. RLL is a youth baseball and softball organization whose goal is to build strong character through the lessons of sports.

There are leagues for ages 5 through 18 for both boys and girls. Last year was a successful season with 2 out of 5 of the All Star teams winning their district tournaments and competing at the state level (Seniors 15-16 year olds, and Juniors 13-14 year olds).
"We look to continue in this tradition this year."  

The organization is 100% volunteer driven, whose funds come though registration fees, local sponsorships and fundraisers. If you would like to register a player or would like more information visit Richmond Little League.

SCC names Bryan Johnson Softball Coach

Bryan Johnson named SCC Softball Coach

Shoreline Community College on Tuesday named Bryan Johnson as softball coach. 

Johnson, who resides currently in Graham, WA has a long history of softball coaching experience and most recently was assistant coach at South Puget Sound Community College. He has also been an assistant coach at Dakota Wesleyan College, Northern State University and Green River Community College. He also has experience as a high school and summer softball coach.

Coach Johnson graduated from Black Hills State University in South Dakota and has two master’s degrees, one from Northern State University and one from the United States Sports Academy in Mobile, AL. He has also worked in college sports information and broadcasting.

Spirit Fastpitch girl's team forming in Shoreline

Spirit Fastpitch is a new softball team for girls age 10, 11, and 12. The team is based in Shoreline and will be holding tryouts on these dates:

  • August 10 at 10am-Noon
  • August 14 at 5:30-7:30pm
  • August 17th 10am-Noon
Tryouts will be held at Shoreview Park, 700 NW Innis Arden Way, Shoreline, for all interested 12U players!


Spirit Fastpitch is looking for girls who love softball and want to have fun playing and improving their game. Spirit will play local and statewide tournaments during the 2013-2014 season.

In addition to the listed tryout dates there will be a make-up day available for any player still

The City of Shoreline Parks and Recreation Department is looking for Co-Ed softball teams to participate in their Summer Softball League. All games take place in Shoreline beginning on June 26th.

Five Shorecrest players on all-Wesco-3A-South softball team

Five Shorecrest softball players have won places on the All-Wesco-3A-South first team.

Sophomore Olivia Nolan made the team as a catcher, senior Jeanna Berg made the team at second base, junior Anisa Gomez won a position at shortstop, senior Amanda Eshelman won a spot in the outfield and senior Amanda Hartley was named the first team designated hitter.

In addition, two Shorecrest players and one from Shorewood won positions on the second team, and two Shorecrest players and one from Shorewood won honorable mention.

Shorecrest softball season ends with 3-2 State tournament loss to Juanita

Shorecrest softball season ends with 3-2 State tournament loss to Juanita Saturday despite efforts of Alisa Kaufold.

Alisa Kaufold did all she could to give Shorecrest a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past Juanita, as Shorecrest lost 3-2 in six innings in a State 3A tournament elimination game Saturday.

Kaufold paced Shorecrest at the plate. She went 1 for 3 and drove in one. She doubled in the sixth inning.

Juanita’s winning pitcher allowed two runs over 5 1/3 innings. She struck out two, walked none and surrendered five hits.

Juanita went up for good in the third, scoring one run.

Juanita scored one run in the fifth inning, and followed it with one more in the sixth.

After pushing across two runs in the bottom of the sixth, Shorecrest faced just a 3-2 deficit. A two-run double by Kaufold triggered Shorecrest's comeback.

Shorecrest had lost to Holy Names and defeated Kelso and Peninsula in Friday games.

The Shorecrest softball team continues play in the State 3A softball tournament Saturday morning after losing to Holy Names and defeating Kelso and Peninsula in Friday games,

Shorecrest will meet Juanita in a State elimination game at 9 a.m. at the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey, north of Olympia.

The Scots lost to Holy Names, 8-1, in the first round before defeating Kelso, 11-10, and Peninsula, 3-1 to avoid elimination.

In the 8-1 loss to Holy Names, Katie Champoux hit a home run for Shorecrest.

In the 11-10 victory over Kelso, winning pitcher Amanda Hartley also hit 3 for 4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Callie Anderson hit 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI.

In the 3-1 victory over Peninsula , winning pitcher Amanda Eshelman struck out eight batters and gave up five hits in six innings. Hartley hit 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and an RBI. Jeanna Berg hit a home run,
