First of the Year Run at Green Lake for Richmond Beach Running Club

8:00 for two laps
8:30 for one lap
9:00 taking the plunge!

For the last several years the RBRC has been meeting at the Evans Pool parking lot for a run around Green Lake, then taking an optional "plunge" in the lake to start off the year.

This is a fun event, maybe a little early for those having too much fun on New Years Eve!

There is no pressure to jump in. For those wishing to get in two laps around the lake, meet at the Evans Pool parking lot, 7201 E Green Lake Dr. N, Seattle 98115.

Be ready to run at 8:00am. Take a lap and meet back in the same spot at 8:30am to meet up for those wishing for either less distance or just a later start. The distance around the lake is 2.8 miles.

At 9:00am gather on the dock for "leg recovery" ice bath! This may be the warmest air and water temperature at Green Lake in years! After quickly drying off we will all head over to Starbucks for a nice hot beverage.

Runners - join a team for Ragnar

Tuesday, February 7, 2017

Two day, 12 person relay race

On Sunday, February 12th, there will be an informational meeting for anyone interested in joining the Richmond Beach Running Club Ragnar teams.

This year, we are seeing if there is enough interest to form two teams; one for fun and one for speed.  This means we'll need multiple captains and a bunch of interested runners.

If you've run Ragnar before, you know it's two days of pure running fun. If you've never run Ragnar before, it is a 12 person relay race, where each runner runs three legs, totally between 10 and 20 miles. The course goes from Blaine to Langley.

It is my favorite running event I've ever run and our Ragnar is considered one of the best in the nation.

Come on out to Salish Sea Brewing, 518 Dayton St #104, Edmonds 98020 on Sunday, February 12th from 3:00 - 4:00pm for an informational meeting. If you have runner friends who might also be interested in Ragnar, invite them too.

If you cannot make it, but are interested, contact Jeff.

Richmond Beach Runners head for the Hill Challenge

Thursday, January 5, 2017

From the Richmond Beach Running Club

Do the hills of Richmond Beach and Edmonds intimidate you?

Do you avoid certain runs because of the hills?

If so, make a New Year's resolution to beat the hills.

This Saturday's run, January 7, 2017, will be a Hill Challenge.

After our warm up, we'll do a time trial of sorts. We'll see how many times we can run up and down the first half of the Richmond Beach hill in 30 minutes. If it is one time, great! If it is three, great!

In three months, we'll do the challenge again with the goal of beating your own record. This is will be a great run for all ability levels and speeds. If you walk the hill this Saturday, you can run the hill in three months. That is progress!

If this sounds like a nightmare, come on out and run Upper Woodway instead ... no worries.

Stretchers be at the church at 8:00am. Non-stretchers be ready to run by 8:10am. Richmond Beach Congregational Church parking lot, 1512 NW 195th St, Shoreline 98177.

Join the RB Runners for the Greenlake Polar Plunge - or not

Friday, December 30, 2016

Green Lake Polar Plunge Sunday

From the Richmond Beach Runners

8:00 or 8:30am Greenlake Run and Polar Plunge Sunday!

Well, it's a New Year and to keep the tradition, this Sunday morning's run will be meeting at Greenlake.

Meet by the food store and boat rental near the east parking lot.

There are two start times; the 8:00 time is for a two lap run, 8:30 if you would like to sleep in a little more.

The plunge part is optional but highly recommended.

If you do plan on taking the plunge after the run, don't forget the towel and dry clothing!

After the run and plunge, head to Starbucks for some Java and to go over 2016 goals for those who made last year's new year's run - as well as create 2017 goals.

This is truly a great way and fun way to start off the new year. Don't let the thought of the plunge part stop you from coming out.

Richmond Beach Running Club will "burn off the bird" Saturday

Friday, November 25, 2016

From the Richmond Beach Running Club

Join us tomorrow for our Saturday run in Richmond Beach. Bring your family and friends still lingering from Thanksgiving.

Not sure what route we'll take because I want to be able to adjust it depending on our guests.

As a motivation to defeat those tryptophan induced comas, there is a Super Jock n Jill gift certificate up for grabs. We'll raffle it off IF we get at least 20 people for the run tomorrow.

As always, all speeds and abilities are welcome. Stretchers meet at the church parking lot at 8:00am and non-stretchers be ready to leave at 8:10am. The church parking lot is around the corner from the Richmond Beach Coffee Company, 1442 NW Richmond Beach Rd, Shoreline 98177.

Hope to see you there.
