Balancing Life and Business through In-Depth Goal Setting
By this time of year, many New Years resolutions are beginning to be distant, discarded memories. Goal setting, on the other hand, has proven to make a huge , long term difference in a person's productivity. In this session we will not just learn about goal setting, but actually begin to create a system to make 2014 the best year you have had yet.

You will come out of this session with:
  • Goals for 2014 in 7 chosen areas of your life
  • Goals for February that will take you to your larger goals
  • Five goals written as S.M.A.R.T. goals (and know what that means)
  • Five goals written as affirmations to be posted for everyday awareness
  • An accountability system that will help you stay on track

Margery Edwards
Margery Edwards' Bio

The first 26 years of my adult working life were spent in the delightful pursuit of educating young adults at Alternative School #1. Before school started I asked my students what they wanted to learn that year. Then I built the curriculum with that in mind.

Halfway through, I learned about the importance of written goals when I was pursuing my MA at Antioch in Whole Brain Learning. I began teaching that to my students.

When I began my Legal Shield business in 2004, my trainers put a great emphasis on setting and writing goals, and I have learned much from them.

When preparing to share what I knew at Dream Connections this January, I was inspired to take it to a whole new level. This has been helping me to be more productive in life and business, so I am delighted to be sharing this newest version with you.

Balancing Life and Business through in-depth Goal Setting

By this time of January, many New Year's resolutions are already dim, discarded memories. Goals, however, have been shown to really help people to achieve at a higher level.

Creating Wellness in the Workplace: Build a profitable company from the inside out

With Dr. Jason Penaluna,  Tuesday, Nov 5, 2013, 12:00 - 1:30pm

“Health affects all those around you and everything you do',” according to Deepak Chopra, and there is no more important a place in America that health affects than the work place. The current state of health of Americans is very low compared to the rest of the world and it appears that this low state of health and wellbeing is impacting the productivity of the American worker. How a business feels this is in its productivity, health expenditures, customer service, absenteeism and overall bottom line: fairly important things don’t you think?

"Well, there is good news. There is a way to invest in your business that returns, according to New York Times bestselling author and economist, Paul Zane Pilzer, a three fold return on investment. That’s right, for every dollar spent you get three back. It’s not some new flashy gadget, gismo or technology, it’s simply to improve the health of your staff: business profitability from the inside out.

"Please join us on November 5th, 2013 for part one of this pivotal conversation as we explore the impact poor employee health has on your company and, more importantly, what to do to improve it. Furthermore, by joining us in this dialogue you will also be helping us in our mission to change the health of America. A healthy worker means a healthy business which takes us one step closer to changing the level of health of this country.

"The United States is currently ranked 34th in the world in terms of our overall states of health: do you want to be 34th?

"I will look forward to meeting you all and continuing the movement."

Their current practice is Northwest Family Chiropractic and Massage in Shoreline which has been serving the Shoreline community for 10 years.

Creative Marketing on the Digital Channel
Professor Pete Nice

Professor Peter Nice
New digital publishing platforms mean new opportunities for businesses and organizations to find an audience for their message. For most, the technical barrier to entry is low, and the costs are almost non-existent. However, therein lies a challenge. With so many voices competing for attention on the digital channel, how do you make the most of your efforts and cut through the cruft?

This workshop will give you insight on how to create a campaign that will reach influencers, forge new alliances and capture mindshare. We will explore creative approaches to tools within popular social platforms and prepare for what’s coming next. We will also explore how the digital channel has evolved and learn how turn our own expertise and creativity into measurable business results.

Peter Mitchell, (Pete Nice) is a multimedia creative director with ten years of agency experience, and (gasp) twenty years of creative work in the digital channel. In the early 90’s he started the first web publishing workshop in the Northwest, and from there went on to offer classes in video, multimedia and digital advocacy. Mr Mitchell has worked for a Fortune 10 company, helped build a media arts center, and presented at educational forums. He has served on panels for the National Endowment for the Arts, the Benton Foundation, the National Alliance of Media Arts and Culture, and Artist Trust. He was also a nominator for the Rockefeller Foundation Media Arts Fellowship. Mr. Mitchell holds a dual Bachelors degree from the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and the College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University.
