Provide input on parks, recreation, and cultural services in Shoreline

Monday, April 4, 2016

Cromwell Park and the shelter where concerts are staged

Securing our Foundation, Shaping our Future: Provide input on parks, recreation, and cultural services in Shoreline

The City of Shoreline wants to hear from you! Over the next year and a half, the City will be updating Shoreline’s Plan for Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (formerly the PROS Plan) and needs your input.

The Plan is a document that creates a 20-year vision and framework providing for Shoreline’s recreation and cultural programs and facilities, and for maintaining and investing in park and open spaces.

There will be several planning events and workshops this summer and fall to solicit your ideas. However, to help inform discussion at these meetings, they want to hear from you now.

You are asked to take about 10-15 minutes to provide your input and feedback on the future of the parks, recreation and cultural programs and facilities in Shoreline by completing an online questionnaire. It is open to everyone and is available here now through the end of June.

Note that the online survey is different from the survey the City conducted in January. If you participated in the January survey, you are encouraged to fill out the online questionnaire as well.

If you have any questions about the Plan update or the survey, contact Parks Project Coordinator Maureen Colaizzi at mcolaizzi@shorelinewa.gov or 206-801-2603.

145the zoning - Planning Commission public hearing Thursday

Sunday, April 3, 2016

By Diane Hettrick

If you have any interest at all in the zoning changes for the 145th subarea, the Planning Commission is the head of the stream.

If you wait until the City Council is making decisions, your task will be akin to making a U-turn with a battleship.

This is true of many City decisions. This one is different in that it will affect so many people - and that there is precedent in the wide and high changes made in the 185th rezone.

Thursday, the Shoreline Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at 7pm in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 17500 Midvale Ave N.

Agenda Highlights
  • PUBLIC HEARING on Preferred Alternative Zoning to be studied for Final Environmental Impact Statement for 145th Street Light Rail Station Subarea
  • Development Code Amendments Pertaining to Light Rail Systems and Facilities

145th and Bothell Way - Southern Gateway zone

The City of Lake Forest Park has received new applications for development in the Southern Gateway zones on Bothell Way north of 145th. Two mixed-use buildings have begun to be reviewed.

The first mixed-use building proposal is located at 3803 NE 155th Street. The applicant proposes to construct a 34-unit multi-family building with office space. A second mixed use building is located at 14727 35th Avenue NE. The applicant proposes to construct a 16-unit multi-family building with office space. The City will soon issue a SEPA determination for this site. Keep watch on the Notices and Announcements page of the LFP website for more information, or consider signing up for a Notify Me to receive regular updates for that webpage.
