Mindful Paths offers solutions to surviving the holidays and starting 2021 with a fresh new outlook

Sunday, December 20, 2020

Linette Bixby, local Mindfulness and Self-Compassion Coach, offers a variety of group classes and help for anyone struggling with depression, anxiety or in need of inner strength awareness.

From weekly free thirty minute meditation times on Tuesdays, regular meditation life classes available through a monthly subscription or her Mindfulness and Self Compassion Six Week Course, Linette is dedicated to helping people find calm and peace in their minds.

Each Tuesday at noon, Linette offers a free guided lunchtime meditation designed to help you relax and recoup your energy and return to your workday refreshed and rejuvenated.

If you are more interested in starting a regular mindfulness and meditation practice or finding a loving community to share your practice, Linette offers a one hour class each Wednesday from 4:00 – 5:00pm to practice mindfulness, meditation, and encourage participants to share common struggles and triumphs.

Sessions start Wednesday, January 6th from 4-5pm (Four sessions per month in subscription of $45 month.) for her self-care group.

Self-compassion is responding to difficulties in one’s personal life or faults in yourself in the same supportive and understanding way you would with a good friend.

Learning to develop self-compassion relieves your mind of mercilessly judging and criticizing yourself for various inadequacies or shortcomings. Finding compassion for yourself means that you honor and accept your humanness.

Mindfulness and self-compassion teaches the core principles and practices that enable participants to respond to difficult moments in their lives with kindness, care, and understanding.

Free Meditation offered from Mindful Paths to help ease Election Day stress

Friday, October 30, 2020

Linette Bixby
Mindful Paths

Free Meditation offered from Mindful Paths to help ease Election Day stress

It remains the center of conversation this week – the election and the amount of stress everyone is feeling about the outcome.

A contentious election can cause apocalyptic thinking. The mind can create movies of “What if?” and “Then what?.” This cycle of thinking can start a continuous loop of thoughts that feel scary, are anxiety provoking and create a feeling of “dis-ease” in our bodies.

Bring your thoughts back into a controlled state. Think about what you CAN control – not a fictional movie of what MIGHT happen.

This coming Tuesday, November 3, 2020 Linette Bixby from Mindful Paths will be offering THREE free thirty minute meditation times that will be dedicated to helping calm election day anxiety.

Join her at 8am; 12 noon; and 5pm for a mental health break that will help you breathe with composure the rest of the day.

Tuesday, November 3, 2020 - 8am, 12pm, and 5pm

Must sign up in advance to receive zoom link at https://www.linettebixby.com/book-online

Labyrinth walk at Church of the Redeemer Apr 9

Wednesday, March 27, 2019

The next labyrinth walk at Church of the Redeemer will be April 9, 2019. The walk starts at 7:00pm. If you can, come early to set up, beginning at 6:30pm.

This month’s theme is Psalm 23.

Questions? Just ask Bee Jay, labyrinth@redeemer-kenmore.org.

In addition to walking the 12 Apostles labyrinth, you may choose to "finger walk" using a tabletop labyrinth while sitting. Parking is free in the parking lot.

Church of the Redeemer is at 6210 NE 181st St, Kenmore.

Why walk a labyrinth?

An ongoing practice of labyrinth walking can be an exciting and meaningful discipline. Labyrinth walking, whether on one’s feet or on a table top with a finger or stylus, can add to the journey of faith.

Labyrinths are walked for a variety of reasons. Examples include the following:
  • Listen to God.
  • Find the quiet center of one’s life.
  • Facilitate calm and stillness in a hectic world.
  • Celebrate joyful occasions and happenings.
  • Receive insights on problems.
  • Seek faithful clarity amidst life’s challenges and opportunities.
  • Seek healing for emotional and/or spiritual wounds.
  • Work on forgiveness.
  • Commemorate significant events or holy days.
Our labyrinth design

Our main labyrinth is an original design by Dan Niven. It is installed on the floor of the parish hall as a gaffer tape, semi-permanent labyrinth. Dan has designed and installed many labyrinths in the Puget Sound region. His description follows:

Over the past fifteen-plus years, I’ve created many circular designs, and am also drawn to patterns which emerge out of a series of nested polygons.
A common medieval labyrinth shape was octagonal with a flat base – imagine a stop sign – occasionally rotated 22.5 degrees to create on “on-point” look. I use this motif often, sometimes increasing the number of sides to twelve, creating the dodecagonal shape employed in this cruciform five-circuit design.
Paths are wide enough for those using a walker. The middle is 3.5 circuits wide or about quarter of the overall width, a common ratio for labyrinths with an expanded center.

Our labyrinth is named “The Twelve Apostles,” reminding us of all the adventures Jesus’ original core group experienced, walking in the footsteps of Jesus and the Old Testament wanderers.

Walk the Labyrinth at Church of the Redeemer in Kenmore Feb 19

Wednesday, February 13, 2019

Walk the labyrinth at Church of the Redeemer

In consideration of Mother Nature’s gift of snow, which means icy roads, the February labyrinth walk at Church of the Redeemer has been postponed to February 19, 2019, at 7:00pm.

The theme this month comes from our friends at Global Healing. The yearly theme is Intention, which starts with Attention!

Church of the Redeemer is at 6210 NE 181st St, Kenmore.

Plan on joining us, weather permitting. Can’t make it? Ask for an emailed copy of the walk. Need a paper labyrinth to finger walk? Again, please ask. Send an email to labyrinth@redeemer-kenmore.org.

Why walk a labyrinth?

An ongoing practice of labyrinth walking can be an exciting and meaningful discipline. Labyrinth walking, whether on one’s feet or on a table top with a finger or stylus, can add to the journey of faith.

  • Work on forgiveness.
  • Commemorate significant events or holy days.

Church of the Redeemer

Community life at Redeemer centers on worship in the Episcopal tradition. Art and music vitally deepen this worship. Our faith expresses itself with service to people, locally to internationally.

Church of the Redeemer is at 6210 NE 181st St in Kenmore. The campus is a short distance north of Bothell Way, near the Burke-Gilman Trail. The entrance looks like a gravel driveway. The campus is larger on the inside than it is on the outside. And, we managed to hide a large building on the side of a hill that is not easily seen from the street.

The Episcopal Church welcomes you.
