Pursuant to the Presidential Proclamation, Gov. Inslee hereby directs that Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff on Friday, May 18, 2018, in solemn respect for those affected by the shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on Tuesday, May 22, 2018.

Governor Inslee hereby directs that Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff on Friday, February 9, 2018, in memory of former Governor John Spellman who passed away on January 15 at the age of 91 from pneumonia.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business on Tuesday, February 13, 2018.

Memorial services will be held on February 12, 2018, at 12:00pm at St. James Cathedral, 804 Ninth Ave, Seattle; followed by a Celebration of Life for Governor John and Lois Spellman at the Bell Harbor Conference Center, 2211 Alaskan Way, Seattle at 2:30 pm.

McCartney, 34, and directs that Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff in his memory on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. Deputy McCartney was shot and killed while responding to a burglary call on January 8, 2018.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on Wednesday, January 17, 2018.

Governor Inslee is deeply saddened by the death of Chief Warrant Officer Jacob M. Sims, 36, and directs that Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff in his memory on Saturday, November 4, 2017.

CWO Sims died of injuries he sustained in a helicopter crash in eastern Afghanistan on October 27, 2017.

The Governor's Office has no objection to agencies lowering the flags at the close of business on Friday, November 3, 2017. Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on November 4, 2017, or first thing Monday morning, November 6.

Black was killed in an ambush in Niger on October 4, 2017.

On Monday, October 2, 2017 members of the Shoreline Veterans Association and The American Legion Post 227 lowered the flag at Gateway Plaza to half mast after the Las Vegas shooting.

After President Trump ordered all flags to be lowered to honor victims of the Las Vegas shooting the local Veterans groups sent members to render honors as the flag was lowered. 

Gateway Plaza is located at N 185th and Midvale, just off Aurora.

Sgt. Schmieman was killed in a military plane crash in Mississippi on July 10, 2017.
