Governor Inslee is deeply saddened by the death of Tacoma Police Officer Reginald "Jake" Gutierrez, 45, and directs that Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff in his memory on Friday, December 9, 2016.

Officer Gutierrez was killed in the line of duty on Wednesday, November 30.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on December 9, 2016.

Other government entities, citizens and businesses are encouraged to join this recognition.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016, at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma. It is open to the public. The time has yet to be announced.

Governor Inslee hereby directs that Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff Wednesday, December 7, 2016, for National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.

National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day was created by Congress in 1994 in honor of those Americans killed or injured as a result of the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on Wednesday, December 7, 2016.

Flags at half-staff Monday for State Senator Andy Hill

Governor Inslee is deeply saddened by the death of Washington State Senator, The Honorable Andy Hill, 54, and directs that Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff in his memory on Monday, November 14, 2016.

Senator Hill passed away on Monday, October 31, 2016, from lung cancer.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on November 14, 2016.

Other government entities, citizens and businesses are encouraged to join this recognition.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016, at 2:00 pm at St. Jude Catholic Church in Redmond.  There will also be a memorial service conducted by the Washington State Senate on Monday, November 14 at 12:15 pm in the Senate Chambers.

Governor Inslee is deeply saddened by the death of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Matthew V. Thompson, 28, of Irvine, California, and directs that Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff in his memory on Wednesday, September 7, 2016.

He died in Helmand Province, Afghanistan when an IED detonated near his dismounted patrol.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on September 7, 2016.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at 1:30 pm at Faith Lutheran Church, Lacey, Washington.

Bauders, 25, of Seattle, and directs that Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff in his memory on Wednesday, May 18, 2016. He died in Iraq in a non-combat related incident.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on May 18, 2016.

Governor Inslee is deeply saddened by the death of Washington National Guard SSG Matthew McClintock, 30, of Des Moines, and directs that Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff in his memory on Thursday, February 25, 2016.

He was killed in action on January 5 in the Helmand Province in South Afghanistan. SSG McClintock was posthumously promoted to Sergeant First Class.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on February 25 or first thing Friday morning, February 26, 2016.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2016, at 3:00 PM at JBLM Lewis North Chapel.
